Stretch while gazing at the starry sky! Relax before going to bed under Japan’s first “Starry Sky Reserve”

2020.08.01

At “Hoshinoya Taketomijima,” a stay-type resort located in Taketomijima, Okinawa, we hold “Tinnu*1 deep breathing” every day while watching the stars. In the Yaeyama area, which has been certified as Japan’s first “starry sky reserve*2”, 84 stars out of 88 constellations are the most beautiful in Japan.

There are no tall buildings around and the outdoor poolside where the starry sky spreads, you can stretch while feeling the power of the stars and the moon. By taking a deep breath and stretching slowly, you can relax your mind and body, and invite you to a comfortable sleep.

*1 “Heavenly” in the Okinawan dialect
*2 A generic name for the certified sites of the Dark Sky Place, which consists of 6 categories that are certified by the International Dark Sky Association’s “Dark Sky Place Program” (Japanese name: Starry Sky Reserve Certification System).

The outdoor pool, located in the center of the facility, is mortar-shaped and offers a starry sky view when you sit or lie down. “Tinnu Deep Breathing” is a stretch held before bedtime under the starry sky of Taketomi Island, which was certified as Japan’s first “starry sky reserve”. Stretching while taking a deep breath allows you to relax your body and mind while feeling the grass, squeaking in insects, and the scent of flowers by the pool. The swimming pool is open 24 hours a day, so you can spend a relaxing time floating in the pool and gazing at the starry sky.
