Wooden tableware “Hinoki no Utsuwa” that overcomes material weaknesses is on sale at Makuake in advance

2022.05.05

We have created a wooden tableware “Hinoki no Utsuwa” that overcomes the weaknesses of “wood” with the brand concept of “creating special camping gear that pursues not only modeling beauty but also functional beauty.”
It will be sold in advance through the support purchase service “Makuake” until June 8, 2022.

Over 50 years of custom furniture.
A woodworker in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture, who knows all about the material of “wood”, further challenges the limits of that material and creates a special camping gear that pursues not only modeling beauty but also functional beauty. We launched “Yamamoto woodworking camp equipment” as a concept.

As the first step of this project, we released “Hinoki no Utsuwa”, a wooden tableware that overcomes many weaknesses of “wood”.
With this, you can use it without hesitation for dishes such as curry and Napolitan that you are worried about odor transfer and color transfer and hesitate to eat with a wooden bowl, and wash it with detergent like other tableware. , Excellent drainage just by standing up.

It fits perfectly in the popular camping gear “Mestin”, so it’s easy to carry around.
What’s more, we have created the ultimate gem that makes full use of the charm of “wooden tableware”, which has a beautiful wood grain and a gentle scent of cypress.

Wooden tableware is unpopular for outdoor camping gear!?

Even if you just serve it on a wooden plate, it may look very delicious, but as a result of researching the market, the most popular is metal, especially titanium.
Wooden vessels were unpopular in camping and the outdoors.

The reasons cited were “mold”, “discoloration”, “smell transfer”, “difficult maintenance”, “bulky”, and “heavy”.

From there, as a result of being inspired by the story of “wooden sink” in a project that Mr. Yamamoto Woodworking Co., Ltd. had previously worked on, wooden tableware using a special paint called “liquid glass” was born.

Overcoming structural weaknesses

“Because wood is a living thing, its shape changes. The thinner it is, the more susceptible it is to warping and distortion.” Due to such characteristics, wooden tableware tends to be heavy.
However, after repeated trial production and durability tests, it was not as thin as metal tableware, but it was thin enough to be convinced under the condition that the material “wood” was used roughly outdoors.

In addition, it is finished as a product that also supports stacking performance that reduces luggage by stacking exactly and not creating wasted space.
