The theme for this fourth batch is “Late Autumn”, and the beautiful flowers and seasonal scenes are reproduced in this assortment for your visual enjoyment.

Commitment to Quality Sweets

Craftsmanship
Each confectionary is made with the utmost care and attention by the delicate handiwork of Japanese confectionary artisans.
This year’s theme is “Late Autumn,” focusing on the changing seasons unique to Japan, and we have recreated the visually pleasing autumn scenery of Kyoto with great attention to detail, such as the autumn plants changing colors and scattering under the clear autumn sky.

【Kozuki’s “red bean paste”】
Kohzuki searches all over Japan for azuki beans, the raw material used to make red bean paste, in order to find the most suitable beans for each of our jōmonogashi creations. Then carefully select the azuki beans and, unusually for the industry, artisans carefully cook them in-house, taking into account the temperature and saltiness of the day.

Scenery fresh sweets

Two types of online-only
With the motto, “We want to help our customers create memories,” there will deliver fresh sweets from Kogetsu that are not available in stores.
These beautiful and ephemeral josekizashi, available only during this season, express the ephemeral changes of autumn, which are so dramatic and ephemeral. The visuals are sure to be a hit on social networking sites.

Ki Kare Shi (online only)
The burning autumn leaves are fluttering one by one in the strong cold wind, and the winter season is approaching us step by step. A dry wind blows the accumulated fallen leaves away, and the sight of the fallen leaves rolling down the path makes one feel a sense of loneliness. The scene of the season moving forward with the wind is expressed by the “withering of the trees. The mixture of tsubu-an and shiro-an (white bean paste) gives the cake a flavor not found in our past creations.

Momijigari (online only)
Autumn in the mountains is somewhat inspiring. Colored leaves fall into the river, and the autumn leaves, riding the currents of the water, bring news of the autumn season to the mountain villages. The scene of autumn leaves riding on the river to announce the change of the season is expressed in “Momijigari” (autumn-leaf hunting). The gradation of autumn leaves on the mountain is a mixture of yellow, red, and orange, giving the impression of an authentic landscape.

Utsuri kiku
Chrysanthemums gradually fade and change with the cold weather that increases day by day.
The chrysanthemums sway as if coming and going between autumn and winter, evoking a sense of wistfulness and the fragility of things. The faintly darkened areas represent chrysanthemums dancing in autumn.

Iide Town, Yamagata Prefecture] “Submerged Forest of Lake Shirakawa,” a Mysterious Spring-Only Scene

The mysterious scenery of Lake Shirakawa in the town of Iide in southern Yamagata Prefecture can be seen only during two months in spring. In spring, a large amount of melt water flows into Lake Shirakawa from the Iide mountain range, one of Japan’s 100 most famous mountains, where there is heavy snowfall. When the lake is full of water, it creates a fantastic sight of white willow trees as if they are growing out of the water.

[Hoshinoya Tokyo] “New Year’s Kabuki Stay” brings the hospitality of an Edo Period theatrical teahouse to the present day.

Hoshinoya Tokyo, a Japanese-style inn located in Otemachi, Tokyo, will again this year host the “New Year Kabuki Stay” program, a two-day and one-night stay from January 5 to 26, 2024.
For people living in Edo, one of their New Year’s pleasures was to watch Kabuki, and it was a chic way to spend the New Year. Theatrical teahouses supported this way of enjoying Kabuki. In addition to arranging tickets to the theater, the teahouses delighted patrons by providing a complete range of services, including plot notes, tea, sweets, makunouchi box lunches, and snacks and drinks (*1). Hoshinoya Tokyo offers a stay to celebrate the New Year with hospitality similar to the theatrical teahouses of the time.

[Shinjuku Gyoen x Naked] NAKED Autumn Foliage in Shinjuku Gyoen 2023 to be held

From November 22 (Wed) to December 3 (Sun), 2023, an autumn foliage lighting event will be held at Shinjuku Gyoen. Following the cherry blossom event this spring, Shinjuku Gyoen and Naked will collaborate again this fall for the autumn foliage event. Shinjuku Gyoen, one of Tokyo’s most famous gardens, is one of the few places in the city where visitors can enjoy the autumn leaves. The 200-meter-long rows of plane trees, the best maple tree spot in the city, Momijiyama, and the “Middle Pond,” with its spectacular reflection in the pond, will offer a world where the autumn leaves of Shinjuku Gyoen and Naked’s art and food are fused together.
