Shoko Uemura Exhibition “Composition of Beauty” from November 2nd at the Shohaku Art Museum

To know the production process of the work, including the main drawing of the 70-year-old masterpiece “Sanme”, which depicts flame wood, Indian peacock and squall, which is a motif that Shoko Uemura has warmed up in his heart for 50 years. We will hold “Shoko Uemura Exhibition: Touching the Composition of Beauty”, which will be exhibited together with sketches and drawings that can be made. The period is from November 2, 2021 to February 6, 2022.
Shoko Uemura (1902-2001) was born in Kyoto as the eldest son of the Japanese painter Uemura Shoen, and continued to paint magnificent bird-and-flower paintings on the modern Kyoto art gallery. He establishes a sophisticated style of bird-and-flower painting with a modern composition, centered on his precise observation from his childhood and the traditional Maruyama-Shijo school sketches.
