The demand for tatami mats made from rush is decreasing year by year.
In the situation where highly maintainable human rushes and cheap foreign rushes are favored and used, there was a desire of rush producers to “continue to be an industry, not a traditional craft”.
“Look into Nature” is a furniture brand that uses high-quality domestic rush, which started development in 2019, sympathizing with such an idea.
With the motif of various beautiful landscapes of Japan, when he exhibited for the first time at “Milano Design Week 2019”, he received high praise such as being featured in many overseas media.
100% domestic natural rush is used
Domestic rush is a rare material that has a very mellow scent and you can feel the goodness of the area with all five senses.
It has a high density of internal fibers and has many excellent functions such as humidity control, air purification, adsorption of malodorous substances, antifouling property, and flame retardancy as well as relaxing effect.
Sustainable material “rush” with low environmental impact in the production process
When rush is cultivated for 1ha, it absorbs about 6.5 tons of carbon dioxide during the growing process.
This is equivalent to about one year and two months of CO2 emitted when a family of four lives.
By increasing the cultivation of rush through the sale of rush furniture, we will reduce CO2 (SDGs13) and contribute to sustainable production and consumption (SDGs12).
The relationship between things and space in Japan is concentrated in building the relationship that emphasizes harmony and enhances the environment. A life cycle concept that takes advantage of the architectural ingenuity that incorporates the four seasons into the space and the characteristics of the materials. It is a unique view of nature in Japan’s culture as a message created to convey the difficulty and awe of coexisting with nature.
Once again, paying attention to this view of nature, in relation to the environment, I set the way of things whose actions and actions are part of the landscape with the word “Look into Nature”.
As a product designer, we will welcome the new German-based designer Michael Geldmacher, who is active in the world, and announce the 4 series as a new model.
