The highland resort hotel “Kyukamura Oku-Daisen” is hosting a seasonal autumn hospitality event from Monday 1st September to Wednesday 12th November, where guests can savour Tottori Prefecture’s pears at their peak.
During dinner, guests can enjoy an all-you-can-eat selection of juicy pears alongside the kaiseki course. Additionally, the menu features creative dishes such as pear curry and salad with pear dressing, crafted by our chefs. The pear variety will change depending on the season, ensuring guests are served the most delicious pears available at each time.
Tottori Prefecture is a renowned pear-producing region.
Pear cultivation in Tottori Prefecture has a history spanning over a century, and its techniques are highly regarded nationwide. A diverse range of varieties are cultivated within the prefecture, including the “Nijisseiki” pear, as well as the “Kōsui”, “Shinkan-sen” and “Atago-nashi” varieties, each of which offers a distinctive flavour profile.
Production of the ’20th Century Pear’ ranks first nationally. Characterised by translucent yellow-green skin, an abundance of juice that almost drips from the fruit, a crisp texture, a refined sweetness and pleasant acidity, this pear offers a refreshing taste that is perfect for the lingering warmth of early autumn. The vast, well-drained land and significant temperature differences between day and night create an ideal environment for pear cultivation.
