Winter is the season for “cats”! “Cat Holiday Exhibition”

From January 22nd (Friday) to February 28th (Sunday), 2021, the “Cat Holiday Exhibition” winter main festival of the joint photo exhibition & product sales exhibition where popular cat creators who mobilized more than 850,000 people gather It will be held at TODAYS GALLERY STUDIO. (Asakusa Bridge, Tokyo). The “Cat Holiday Exhibition” has also entered its 6th anniversary. At the main winter festival, we will send you a healing cat festival such as the appearance of new star cats, limited collaboration goods, and special events for Cat Day.

The total number of SNS followers exceeds 3 million. Participating creators exhibit a group of healing works that are typical of winter. Most of the exhibited works will be new works, and many unpublished works that have not been published on SNS will be exhibited.

“Torajiro is a popular person with more than 140,000 followers on Instagram who publishes his daily life. Also, the expressive calico cat” Maru-chan “is popular for his free-spirited appearance that makes him feel like a human being. Is the first appearance of “Cat Holiday Exhibition”! We will exhibit healing works.

A special project in which the popular creator "Light Sakas" draws an oversized original picture is also held.

At the special booth located inside the venue, the popular creator “Light Sakas” will challenge the production of an oversized original picture for the first time! This is a valuable opportunity to see works drawn with watercolors live, as I usually draw digitally. At the same time, you can take a picture of the production scenery and see the moment when the shape and inspiration are born in the process of production.
In addition, we are planning to sell original works and original goods only at the venue.

What is "Cat Holiday Exhibition"?

This is a joint photo exhibition and product sales exhibition where popular cat creators, both professional and amateur, gather. Many famous cats that are gaining popularity on Twitter and Instagram have also appeared, and the total number of exhibitors’ SNS followers has exceeded 3 million.

Works that make you feel at home just by looking at them, and handmade goods that are soothing just by looking at them are on display and for sale. The gallery “TODAYS GALLERY STUDIO.” (Asakusabashi, Tokyo) sponsored by BACON Co., Ltd. has recorded more than 850,000 visitors in just five years since the summer of 2015. Many of the exhibitors are creators who are active mainly on the Internet, and it has attracted a lot of attention as a valuable opportunity to see their works live.

ZIPANGU Contemporary artists who have run through the Heisei era” Takashi Murakami x Sueo Mizuma dialogue: ‘Beyond the Theory of Artistic Entrepreneurship’ / Interview with Mr. Mizuma: ‘Rediscovering the Value of Japanese Culture by the Japanese People

The Hiroshima Museum of Art is hosting the exhibition “ZIPANGU: Contemporary Artists Who Defined the Heisei Era” (November 2, 2024 – December 22, 2024). This showcase brings together works by some of the most prominent figures in Japan’s contemporary art scene, including Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami, Makoto Aida, Yoshitomo Nara, Chiharu Shiota, Izumi Kato, Akira Yamaguchi, and Miwa Komatsu. The exhibition has already garnered significant attention, exceeding 10,000 visitors.

HYAKKEI covered the dialogue between contemporary artist Takashi Murakami and Sueo Mizuma, the curator of this exhibition, held at the RIHGA Royal Hotel Hiroshima. We also conducted an exclusive interview with Mr. Mizuma.

The discussions centered on the aspirations behind the ZIPANGU exhibition and offered forward-looking insights, not only into Japan’s art world but also into the rediscovery of value within Japanese culture by its people.
