2025.01.24

From 14 March to 20 April 2025, the Kai Tsugaru Hot Spring Inn at Owani Onsen in Aomori Prefecture will host the “Cherry Blossom Light Terrace Waiting for Spring” at the “Water Garden of the Four Tsugaru Seasons”. March to mid-April in Aomori is the season of thawing the snow and waiting for spring after a long winter. The early arrival of spring is expressed in the Tsugaru Four Seasons Water Garden with an arrangement using traditional craftsmanship, expressing the longing for a warm spring.

In the water garden of the four seasons of Tsugaru, Tsugaru Biidoro and Tsugaru Kinzan-yaki (*1) lanterns, traditional crafts of the Tsugaru region, are set up to represent the early spring season. The Tsugaru Kinzan-yaki lanterns with cherry blossom patterns and cherry blossom-coloured Tsugaru biidoro lights gently illuminate the special seats in the water garden, offering a moment after dinner in anticipation of the spring season.

Snowdrift Desert Set and Snow Carrot Apple Tea

The ‘Snowdrift Dessert Set’ expresses the transition from winter snowdrifts to the warm blossoming of cherry blossoms. Inside the dome, which is shaped like a kamakura, a symbol of Tsugaru’s snowy winters, are five types of confectionery developed with a local Japanese confectioner to represent the changing seasons.

In addition, “Snow Carrot Apple Tea” is served with “Snow Carrot Apple Tea”, which combines “snow carrots”, which have stored sugar by surviving the winter under thick snow, and apples, a speciality of Aomori Prefecture, to create a healthy and fruity drink. The melting of the candy floss is used to represent the moment when Tsugaru’s snow melts and the region transitions into spring.
