Kyoto Black Roll Kuromaru Harimaen Matcha
An elegant roll cake with plenty of matcha cream wrapped in a black sponge dough kneaded with bamboo charcoal.
The dough made from carefully selected bamboo charcoal has a black and chewy texture.
The sweets that are fused with matcha cream, which has a rich scent, are carefully crafted and provided one by one by craftsmen.
Matcha shaved ice
It is a self-confident work of eX cafe that is second to none, with generously incorporating Japanese toppings such as white balls, azuki beans, and warabi mochi, while cherishing the uniqueness of Kyoto.
Our shaved ice, which continues to be popular even in the fall, has a rich flavor of matcha ice cream, and on top of that, we have realized a luxurious specification with plenty of matcha sauce.
Tenryu-ji Parfait
Like shaved ice, this is a popular parfait that you can enjoy the fusion of our proud matcha ice cream and various materials at eXcafe’s original.
Next to the matcha ice cream, topped with roasted green tea ice cream. Yatsuhashi, a cute umbrella that can be opened and closed, and other small details that allow you to enjoy Kyoto have been combined into one.

At eXcafe, where you can enjoy the autumn of Kyoto with matcha green tea, the new store that just opened this summer is “eXcafe Gion Yasaka”, which stands in the historic Higashiyama area.
It is a valuable store on the grounds of Maruyama Park, which is famous for its cherry blossoms. Spring cherry blossoms are scattered from the store, and each of the lively summer green leaves is finally waiting for this autumn season. It is dyed in one color of crimson.

Simose Art Museum, located in Otake City, Hiroshima Prefecture, has been awarded the prestigious Versailles Prize as the “Most Beautiful Museum in the World.”
The award ceremony took place on December 2 at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, marking a historic moment for the museum and Japanese architecture.

December sees the arrival of a number of Christmas breads. The Snowman with his cute smiling face is a sweet loaf with two different flavours: pudding cream and chocolate cream. It is a heartwarming treat with flavours that both children and adults can enjoy.
Also back this year is the popular Japanese Stollen, which was a big hit last year. This is a special cake that can only be tasted at Kimuraya, using Japanese-inspired ingredients such as persimmons, figs and koshi-an (sweet bean paste). The Hiroshima Museum of Art is hosting the exhibition “ZIPANGU: Contemporary Artists Who Defined the Heisei Era” (November 2, 2024 – December 22, 2024). This showcase brings together works by some of the most prominent figures in Japan’s contemporary art scene, including Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami, Makoto Aida, Yoshitomo Nara, Chiharu Shiota, Izumi Kato, Akira Yamaguchi, and Miwa Komatsu. The exhibition has already garnered significant attention, exceeding 10,000 visitors.
HYAKKEI covered the dialogue between contemporary artist Takashi Murakami and Sueo Mizuma, the curator of this exhibition, held at the RIHGA Royal Hotel Hiroshima. We also conducted an exclusive interview with Mr. Mizuma.
The discussions centered on the aspirations behind the ZIPANGU exhibition and offered forward-looking insights, not only into Japan’s art world but also into the rediscovery of value within Japanese culture by its people.
