Yokohama in yukata, to a special seat surrounded by the night breeze. The Wharf House Yamashita Park ‘Yukata Beer Garden’ will be held again this year.

2025.07.14

A Yukata Beer Garden will be held at The Wharf House Yamashita Park restaurant in the Yamashita Park area, Yokohama, in collaboration with the Yokohama Haikara Kimono Museum, from 2 July (Wed) to 19 September (Fri), 2025.

In the Yukata Beer Garden, you can choose your favourite yukata from approximately 100 different types for women and 30 types for men at the Yokohama Hi Karakara Kimonokan, and then go straight out and explore the streets of Yokohama. Professionals will dress you, so even if you are not good at dressing yourself, don’t worry. The Wharf House Yamashita Park overlooks Yokohama Bay Bridge, Osanbashi Bridge and the Port of Yokohama, and offers a premium plan to ‘enjoy the whole of Yokohama in summer’, including dinner and a footbath against the beautiful night view of the port city.

A port town sunset in yukata. From city walks to dinner to footbaths.

After strolling freely around the ‘Yokohama retro’ streets around Yamashita Park in your choice of yukata, you can enjoy dinner at The Wharf House Yamashita Park, a superb location with a view of the sea. After dinner, you can relax in the footbath on the terrace and feel the summer night breeze. Perfect for sightseers, summer dates and girls’ nights out. It creates a special night that will remain in your heart.

Yukata can be taken home with you; professional dress-up and casual participation in a hand-me-down plan.

The yukata, obi and geta you can choose from can all be taken home with you, making them perfect souvenirs and memories of your trip. A professional will be in charge of dressing you, and underwear and waist cords can be purchased on site, so you can easily take part without any clothes. Men’s yukata are also available, so couples and families are also recommended.

Food and drink for a summer evening; all-you-can-drink dinner in two courses.

You can choose either the BBQ Plan, which you can enjoy with a beer in hand, or THE WHARF HOUSE Course, which includes a well-balanced selection of grilled fish and meat. Both courses include two hours of all-you-can-drink, with a wide range of draft beers, cocktails, organic wines and non-alcoholic cocktails.

Eighty Years After the War: A Reflection on the Preciousness of Ordinary Life YUKIKAZE – In Theaters Nationwide from August 15, 2025

“To Return Alive, To Bring Others Home Alive”

Opening nationwide on August 15, 2025—marking eighty years since the end of World War II—YUKIKAZE is a feature film based on the true story of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) destroyer Yukikaze, a vessel that rescued countless lives amid the horrors of war. A press screening was held in advance at the Sony Pictures screening room.

The destroyer Yukikaze, which served throughout the Pacific War, was renowned for rescuing numerous sailors thrown into the sea during fierce naval battles, surviving to the end of the war virtually unscathed. It earned the legendary moniker “the lucky ship.” This film brings to life the ship’s heroic journey, alongside the lives of those who persevered through one of the most turbulent eras in modern history.

Leading the cast is Yutaka Takenouchi as Captain Kazutoshi Terasawa—a fictional amalgamation inspired by the real-life captains of Yukikaze. Hiroshi Tamaki portrays Petty Officer First Class Kohei Hayase. Supporting roles are delivered by an ensemble of acclaimed actors including Daiken Okudaira, Rena Tanaka, Kanji Ishimaru, and Toru Masuoka. Kiichi Nakai delivers a commanding performance as Vice Admiral Seiichi Itō, the Second Fleet Commander of the IJN who met his fate aboard the battleship Yamato.

In today’s world, once again shaken by division and violence, YUKIKAZE poses an urgent question to those of us living in the peace that others fought to protect: Are we once again treading the path of past mistakes? As collective memory of the war fades, this film becomes ever more vital—a call to reflect on the true value of peace.
