FUNACHU Asakusa Hanakawado, established 77 years ago in Asakusa, the birthplace of eel bowls, will introduce a new menu item on November 15.
<From left to right: 1x, 3x, and 5x more garlic and red spicy sauce. You can choose the amount of garlic you want to add.
Platinum Garlic Unaju” is an unaju dish that is served with “chopped garlic” and “red spicy sauce” combined with special seasoning. The combination of the garlic and the red spicy sauce is expected to increase the nourishing effect of the eel, which has been known since the Nara period (710-794). You can also choose from five different levels of garlic to increase the amount of garlic to your liking.
The new menu item, “Platinum Garlic Unaju” was created in the hope of bringing out new charms of eel while preserving the food culture born in the Edo period of unadon and unaju (unaju rice bowl and eel stew), just like Kabuki, which is committed to carrying on traditions and taking on new challenges. At FUNACHU Asakusa Hanakawado branch, ukiyoe (ukiyoe paintings of actors) from the Edo period with a Kabuki theme are displayed inside the restaurant, allowing customers to enjoy their meal in an atmosphere full of emotion.
