[Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts] “Kiyoshi Hasegawa 1891-1980 Exhibition -Mysteries hidden in everyday life-” will be held.

Kiyoshi Hasegawa is a copperplate painter who started his creative activities as a print artist for the literary magazine “Masked” in the mid-1910s, and has been based in Paris since he left Japan in 1918.
An exhibition will be held at the Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts from July 16th (Sat) to September 25th (Sun), 2022.

Hasegawa has been based in Paris since he left Japan in 1918, and has been highly acclaimed at the Parisian art gallery as a member of Salon d’Automne and the French Painters and Print Artists Association.
He has been awarded the Order of Culture in France and the Order of the Sacred Treasure in Japan.

The Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts held an exhibition of this print artist in 2018.
Based on this exhibition, this exhibition will display works from the earliest works to copperplate prints of the 1970s in chronological order, as well as works by related artists, and will consist of approximately 165 works.
In addition, as many illustration pages as possible will be exhibited for the French translation of “Taketori Monogatari,” which is a masterpiece of illustration books.

Related events include lectures, print experience events that even children can participate in, promenade concerts, and gallery talks by the curator in charge.
In addition, we will distribute appreciation worksheets for elementary and junior high school students.

Note: Admission is 30 minutes before closing
Admission fee: General 800 yen, college / high school students 400 yen, free for junior high school students and younger
