SATORI, a coarse-ground soba and satoyama cuisine restaurant with a view overlooking the Uji River, opened on 1 April 2025.
Shop on the banks of the Uji River where you can experience the four seasons.
With an open space with all-glass walls and a view of the Uji River from the counter, you can feel the changing seasons of Uji, such as cherry blossoms in spring, fresh green in summer, autumn leaves in autumn, and snowy landscape in winter, and serve Satoyama cuisine and coarse-ground soba noodles to match the Satoyama landscape.
There are 8 counter seats, 12 floor seats, 8 semi-private rooms overlooking the Uji River, and 20 seats in tatami rooms (table and chair OK) overlooking the Uji River for groups, so large meetings and bus tour lunches are possible.
Stone-ground coarse buckwheat noodles
The stone-ground buckwheat noodles are made from ‘Ryuo-no-Sato’ buckwheat seeds harvested in Ryuo-cho, Shiga Prefecture, and the coarsely ground buckwheat noodles are slightly thicker buckwheat noodles with a strong flavour. On the other hand, tea buckwheat noodles are made with tea leaves from Uji and are thin and smooth. No chemical flavourings or food additives are used in the Kaeshi soy sauce or broth, so you can enjoy safe and tasty soba noodles.
