2024.01.18

Hoshinoya Tokyo, a Japanese-style inn in Otemachi, will hold “Haruhinata no Hanami Boat” from March 25 to April 10, 2024.

Special Hanami Jyu with original Chouge Jyu

Hoshinoya Tokyo’s original Choge-jyu, a special hanami jyu (a traditional Japanese food for cherry blossom viewing), will be served with spring ingredients such as sea bream, bamboo shoots, and dokkatsu (a type of fish). Choge-ju is a type of food used during the Edo period (1603-1867) when people went out for pleasure, consisting of a stacked box, a plate, a sake barrel, a sake cup, and other drinking vessels, all placed inside an outer frame with a handle so that they could be carried along.

Also called hanami jyu or nobento, it is said to have been useful during seasonal excursions.

Relaxing hanami seating for an elegant view of cherry blossoms

The seats are specially designed with daybed-like sofas where you can stretch out your legs and relax while looking up at the cherry blossoms, and when you lie down and look up at the sky, the blue sky and cherry blossoms in full bloom unfold before your eyes.
