Aomoriya by Hoshino Resorts, a hot spring inn where guests can fully immerse themselves in Aomori’s culture, will once again host the “Spring Herald Pathway” – a corridor of blossoming flowers illuminated by Nebuta lanterns – alongside the “Tange Flower Blossom Festival”, where the Nebuta Flower-Blooming Old Man brings an early spring, from 4th March to 31st May 2026.
The Path of Spring's Herald, transitioning from snow-covered silver to the hues of spring
The winter of a world blanketed in silver gives way to the vivid colours of spring, transforming into a fantastical landscape. This transition is expressed within a corridor adorned with lanterns crafted using the traditional Aomori Nebuta technique, Nanbu saki-ori textiles, and Tsugaru glass. As you proceed along the corridor, the scenery shifts from winter to spring, eventually arriving at the bustling Javame Plaza where visitors enjoy cherry blossom viewing. With each step, one senses the striking contrast of the changing seasons and the vigorous power of spring’s budding growth. Moreover, being indoors, this space allows visitors to enjoy cherry blossom viewing at its peak splendour every day, unaffected by the weather.

Edible Flower Fortune Cookies: Discover your fortune through the cherry blossom designs on Nanbu rice crackers
A stall featuring edible flower omikuji, inspired by weeping cherry blossoms, makes its debut. Pull one string from the many dangling from the weeping cherry tree, and a Nanbu senbei rice cracker will be pulled up. The Nanbu rice crackers bear fortunes aligned with cherry blossom stages—such as “in full bloom”, “half-bloomed”, or “budding”—alongside a brief piece of advice in Tsugaru dialect to enhance your stay. This fortune-telling experience, modelled on spring scenery, offers a delightful way to test your luck.
Washi paper cherry blossoms and Tsugaru glass ornaments create a fantastical open-air bath for viewing the blossoms: 'Sakura Akari no Yu'
Surrounding the open-air bath ‘Fuyū’ stands a single cherry tree in full bloom, crafted using Nebuta festival techniques. Floating on the water’s surface are traditional Tsugaru glass ornaments. At night, the area is illuminated, allowing guests to enjoy the open-air bath while gazing upon the fantastical scenery.
