Niigata’s long-established brewery “Yoshinogawa” has started recruiting a new service “Kayoi” that allows you to “refill” sake with a special bottle!

2020.07.14

Yoshinogawa Co., Ltd. started recruiting for a new service “Kayoi” that allows you to “refill” special sake with a special bottle on Tuesday, June 30 through the support purchase service “Makuake”.

About new service "Kayoi"

Founded in 1548, Niigata Nagaoka is a sake brewery “Yoshinogawa” with a history of 470 years. Mainly used for daily evening drinks in Niigata and throughout Japan.

This new service “Kayoi” is a service that packs premium sake, which is a little different from ordinary liquor, into a “my bottle only for you” with a lot number stamped and delivers it directly from your brewery to your home. I will. Dedicated original stainless steel bottle, we will deliver sake directly from the warehouse.

Origin of "Kayoi"

At present, the mainstream of sake is to buy bottles and other products at the store, but in the Edo period, the mainstream method used to be that of bringing a container called “Tour Sake Bottle” to a liquor store and selling it by weight.
I was using the same container while “going”. At the time, this commuting sake bottle was a way of communication that could bring customers closer to the sake brewery and liquor store, and could be part of communication.

Yoshinokawa is being drunk by everyone in Niigata and all over the country, but there is also a situation where it is not possible to fully understand who is drinking at what place.
Therefore, we launched this time to have a direct connection with “Yoshinogawa” and our customers through this “Kayoi,” which can be said to be a modern day commute. In addition to the desire to get to know Yoshinokawa through Kayoi and to have a more intimate relationship with them when I see Yoshinokawa in the store, in addition to the new house drinking that changes due to the recent new virus I also think that it is a style suggestion.

Challenge with “Makuake”, a support purchase service for personal items and experiences

Therefore, we have launched a project at “Makuake” to let people know about this activity more widely.
>Makuake project page

Immediately after the start of the project, more than 200 people have gathered support, which has received a great response.

We have set up a course where you can exchange up to 4 special drinks from Yoshinogawa. After drinking, it will be returned to the customer (cash on delivery return letter enclosed). After the end of each course, we plan to continue at our own sake museum, “brewery”. Application starts today, project deadline is the end of August. Return is scheduled to start at the end of September.

The exclusive bottle is a collaboration with a company in Nagaoka, Niigata.

We have independently developed a full stainless steel bottle for Kayoi.

Reason for stainless steel
・Because it is repeatedly used, it is lightweight, highly durable, and can withstand transportation.
・It is important to protect the quality of alcohol, and it also has sufficient “shading”.
・Uses “SUS316L”, which is almost the same as the storage tank that is commonly used in sake breweries, with almost no concern about dissolution of iron and metallic odor.

For this reason, Kayoi’s stainless steel bottles have been developed using advanced metal processing technology. Speaking of metal processing, Niigata Prefecture. It is one of the largest production centers in Japan that handles all metal processing from cutlery to automobile parts.

The bottle was manufactured by Cowpea Industry Co., Ltd., also in Nagaoka City. This is what the cowpea industry has achieved, because it is good at various metal processing and has advanced spinning processing technology.

Recognizing such excellent technology and design, this year we won the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award as the grand prix in the “Japan Swallow Industrial Design Competition 2020” that evaluates the design and functionality of metal western tableware and houseware.

Eighty Years After the War: A Reflection on the Preciousness of Ordinary Life YUKIKAZE – In Theaters Nationwide from August 15, 2025

“To Return Alive, To Bring Others Home Alive”

Opening nationwide on August 15, 2025—marking eighty years since the end of World War II—YUKIKAZE is a feature film based on the true story of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) destroyer Yukikaze, a vessel that rescued countless lives amid the horrors of war. A press screening was held in advance at the Sony Pictures screening room.

The destroyer Yukikaze, which served throughout the Pacific War, was renowned for rescuing numerous sailors thrown into the sea during fierce naval battles, surviving to the end of the war virtually unscathed. It earned the legendary moniker “the lucky ship.” This film brings to life the ship’s heroic journey, alongside the lives of those who persevered through one of the most turbulent eras in modern history.

Leading the cast is Yutaka Takenouchi as Captain Kazutoshi Terasawa—a fictional amalgamation inspired by the real-life captains of Yukikaze. Hiroshi Tamaki portrays Petty Officer First Class Kohei Hayase. Supporting roles are delivered by an ensemble of acclaimed actors including Daiken Okudaira, Rena Tanaka, Kanji Ishimaru, and Toru Masuoka. Kiichi Nakai delivers a commanding performance as Vice Admiral Seiichi Itō, the Second Fleet Commander of the IJN who met his fate aboard the battleship Yamato.

In today’s world, once again shaken by division and violence, YUKIKAZE poses an urgent question to those of us living in the peace that others fought to protect: Are we once again treading the path of past mistakes? As collective memory of the war fades, this film becomes ever more vital—a call to reflect on the true value of peace.
