Traditional high-class dried persimmon chocolate

2020.11.11

Minokamo Kinchodo, a Japanese confectionery store in Minokamo City, Gifu Prefecture, will collaborate with Minokamo City to launch a new product, “Dogami Hachiya Persimmon Shokora,” which will create a new appeal for local specialties on November 16th. Will be released in.
“Minokamo Kinchodo” has been in business for more than half a century and has been rooted in the community. With the slogan of warm old wisdom, it is a shop that actively incorporates Western materials and new technologies while valuing tradition.

■ What is Dogami Hachiya Persimmon?

It has a history of 1,000 years and is said to have been loved by Sanei-Ketsu such as Nobunaga Oda, Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and Ieyasu Tokugawa. It is known as a special product of Minokamo City, Gifu Prefecture. Nurtured by the local climate, it is tailored by traditional techniques.

The most expensive items are high-end items, some of which are priced at 3,000 yen each. It is larger in size and has a much sweeter taste than ordinary dried persimmons.

■ Background of product development

Dogami Hachiya persimmons are treated as high-class products, but some are classified as B-class products because they look bad even though the taste does not change. Dogami Hachiya persimmons are in high demand for gifts, and B-class products are often left over. Therefore, I wanted to use the B-class products as sweets to increase the consumption of Dogami Hachiya persimmons and to appeal their appeal.

When making Dogami Hachiya persimmon into sweets, the most important thing I wanted to do was to make the best use of this persimmon. If it is processed too much, the original goodness of the persimmon cannot be expressed.
After making various trials, I arrived at the method of dipping chocolate into a stick-shaped Dogami Hachiya persimmon. I came up with the hint of the Western confectionery orangette.

■ Many popular voices

We had various people such as buyers of famous companies, agricultural cooperative staff, city hall staff, etc. taste it, and it was well received as follows.
・ I didn’t think that dried persimmon and chocolate would go so well together.
・ It is more delicious than eating Dogami Hachiya persimmon as it is.
・ Since it is stick-shaped, it is easy to eat.

■ 4 kinds of flavors are available

As for chocolate, we used high-quality chocolate from France, and thought that it would be more fun to have various flavors, so we prepared four types of chocolate.

・ Black chocolate with a crisp bitterness
・ Sweet milk chocolate
・ Milky white chocolate
・ Sour phrase (strawberry) chocolate

■ Colorful finish

The colors are also vividly finished. For the box, we adopted a high-class sticker box, and imagined the colors of chocolate and persimmon on the top and bottom.

■ Price

4 bags (4 types x 1 each) 1,100 yen (excluding tax)
8 bottles (4 types x 2 each) 2,300 yen (excluding tax)
16-piece box (4 types x 4 pieces each) 4,500 yen (excluding tax)

■ For hometown tax refund

It will be sold at stores from November 16th and will be listed as a gift for the city’s hometown tax payment.
