Held “Seafood Spill Festival”, an event to enjoy seafood luxuriously at ski resorts

2020.11.23

Hoshino Resort Tomamu, one of the largest stay-type snow resorts in Hokkaido, will hold a “Seafood Spill Festival” from December 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021. This is an event where you can enjoy sushi with salmon roe, crab, sea urchin and other seafood spilled over the rice. Since it is held at a store on “Firefly Street” located on the mountainside, you can taste seafood in the ski area. This time, which is the third time to be held, we will also offer “Mega Spilled Sushi”, which is a more luxurious arrangement of spilled sushi.

In Hokkaido, sushi and seafood bowls are served with salmon roe so vigorously that it is called “spilled salmon roe”. At this resort, we decided to hold a seafood spill festival because we wanted you to enjoy seafood in a luxurious way that is unique to Hokkaido.

This event will be held at cafe & bar “Tsukino” on Firefly Street in Ski In Ski Out Village, which is located in the middle of the ski resort. It has been well received that you can enjoy seafood, which is a seafood, in the ski resort, and this is the third time the event has been held.

3 points

1 Spilled sushi with seasonal seafood brilliantly presented

The seafood used for spilled sushi is mainly salmon roe, crab, tuna, sea urchin, and scallops. It is said that the taste of winter seafood increases as it gets clogged with the deepening of the cold and gets high-quality fat. At our resort, we have named sushi that is served with seasonal seafood spilled.

2 Mega sushi that allows you to enjoy sushi even more luxuriously

Mega spilled sushi is a menu that spills all the seafood used in this event, such as salmon roe, crab, tuna, sea urchin, scallops, and salmon. The amount of seafood and rice is four times that of other spilled sushi.

This is equivalent to 30 pieces of typical nigiri sushi. It looks about 15 cm high and is a mega size that can be eaten by 6 to 8 people. In addition, the plate to be served is shaped like a ski with a length of 70 cm, and the chopsticks are designed with the image of stock.

3 When bingo is completed, “one more spill”

The bingo card is used as the menu table for spilled sushi. There is one item in each of the 9 squares, and you can open the squares of the products you ordered. When the bingo is complete, you’ll receive another spill service that adds one of the open-row products to the sushi.

Efforts to enjoy seafood spill festivals with peace of mind

At the cafe & bar “Tsukino” where the seafood spill festival is held, we will thoroughly implement “hygiene management” and “three close measures” to prevent the spread of virus infection and take the following measures.
・ Spacing meal table seats
・ Admission will be restricted if congestion is confirmed
・ Wear a mask when serving customers
・ Thorough alcohol disinfection and sterilization
・ High-temperature cleaning of tableware (plates, glasses) and cutlery (80 degrees or higher), disinfection cleaning of food trays
・ When giving or receiving money, be sure to use a cash tray
・ Install a panel at the cashier counter to prevent droplet infection

Firefly Street in Ski In Ski Out Village, located in the middle of the ski area

Firefly Street was born in December 2017 as Japan’s first ski-in ski-out village. Located in the middle of the ski resort, the cityscape is about 160 meters long and is connected by wooden decks where you can enjoy dining and shopping.

You can ski or snowboard in front of the store, and after a meal or shopping you can slide out in front of the store. The resort’s accommodations, The Tower and RISONARE Tomamu, are also accessible within a 5-minute walk, making it available to non-skiers and snowboarders alike.

It is a facility that realizes a new stay at a snow resort where both skiers and non-skiers can enjoy together at the ski resort.

Eighty Years After the War: A Reflection on the Preciousness of Ordinary Life YUKIKAZE – In Theaters Nationwide from August 15, 2025

“To Return Alive, To Bring Others Home Alive”

Opening nationwide on August 15, 2025—marking eighty years since the end of World War II—YUKIKAZE is a feature film based on the true story of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) destroyer Yukikaze, a vessel that rescued countless lives amid the horrors of war. A press screening was held in advance at the Sony Pictures screening room.

The destroyer Yukikaze, which served throughout the Pacific War, was renowned for rescuing numerous sailors thrown into the sea during fierce naval battles, surviving to the end of the war virtually unscathed. It earned the legendary moniker “the lucky ship.” This film brings to life the ship’s heroic journey, alongside the lives of those who persevered through one of the most turbulent eras in modern history.

Leading the cast is Yutaka Takenouchi as Captain Kazutoshi Terasawa—a fictional amalgamation inspired by the real-life captains of Yukikaze. Hiroshi Tamaki portrays Petty Officer First Class Kohei Hayase. Supporting roles are delivered by an ensemble of acclaimed actors including Daiken Okudaira, Rena Tanaka, Kanji Ishimaru, and Toru Masuoka. Kiichi Nakai delivers a commanding performance as Vice Admiral Seiichi Itō, the Second Fleet Commander of the IJN who met his fate aboard the battleship Yamato.

In today’s world, once again shaken by division and violence, YUKIKAZE poses an urgent question to those of us living in the peace that others fought to protect: Are we once again treading the path of past mistakes? As collective memory of the war fades, this film becomes ever more vital—a call to reflect on the true value of peace.
