Authentic Shochu Discovery,” the first encounter with authentic shochu at five Kai facilities in Kyushu

2023.11.01

Hoshino Resort’s onsen ryokan in Kyushu, Kai Unzen, Kai Yufuin, Kai Beppu, Kai Kirishima, and Kai Aso, will launch the first authentic shochu experience program that can be enjoyed casually from January 2024.

Shochu Debut with Local Shochu Cocktails

Shochu will make its debut with an original cocktail made with shochu from various regions of Kyushu. One of the appeals of strong shochu is that it can be enjoyed by mixing it with a variety of ingredients. We have combined local shochu with local ingredients to create five unique original cocktails.

[Kai Yufuin] Barley shochu and fruit cocktail

Barley shochu, which is actively produced in Oita Prefecture, is characterized by its refreshing and easy-to-drink taste. Combined with kabosu, another Oita specialty, it has a refreshing taste and appearance.

[Kai Aso] Kuma Shochu and Tomato Salty Dog

This salty dog combines Kuma shochu, a shochu made from rice that has been produced in the Hitoyoshi and Kuma regions for over 400 years, and tomatoes, a Kumamoto specialty.

[Kirishima] Sweet Potato Shochu and Kirishima Matcha Cocktail

The sweet potato shochu “Tsurunashi Genji,” made from sweet potatoes and characterized by its fruity taste, is combined with Kirishima green tea and citrus fruits to create a refreshing cocktail.
