[Ise-Man] The ‘Ise-Man Ise Distillery Shop’, where visitors can sample whisky and craft gin, opens on 6 August in front of the Naiku of Ise Grand Shrine

2026.08.14

The ‘Ise-Man Ise Distillery Outlet’, a manufacturer-operated shop where visitors can purchase and sample whisky and craft gin produced at the Ise Distillery, will open on Thursday 6 August 2026 within the Ise-Man Naiku-mae Sake Brewery, located in Okage Yokocho in front of the Inner Shrine of Ise Grand Shrine.

Inside the shop, visitors can enjoy paid tastings of the whisky and craft gin produced by the Ise Distillery, whilst also viewing life-size photographic panels of pot stills and barrels that have actually been used for maturation. This is a shop where visitors can not only purchase products but also gain a closer understanding of the Ise Distillery’s craftsmanship through the aromas, flavours and exhibits on display.

Furthermore, on the opening day, a limited run of 10 bottles of the ‘Single Malt Whisky Ise – 2025 Edition’ – which sold out in just one minute on each day of its pre-release sale via the online store last December – will be available for purchase.

A place to savour and discover the charm of the Ise Distillery

Ise-Man operates the ‘Ise-Man Naiku-mae Brewery’, which produces and sells the sake ‘Okagesama’ in front of the Inner Shrine of Ise Grand Shrine. Meanwhile, at the Ise Distillery in Akeno, Komata-cho, Ise City, the company has been producing distilled spirits such as whisky and craft gin, utilising the shochu production techniques honed over many years.

Whilst the Naiku-mae Brewery has previously sold a selection of products from the Ise Distillery, we have now decided to open a new direct sales outlet where, in addition to offering tastings of our distilled spirits, we will also provide an insight into the processes of distillation and maturation. At the Ise Distillery Direct Sales Outlet, visitors can not only select and purchase products but also sample a range of distilled spirits to appreciate the distinct differences in their aromas and flavours.

We aim to create a space where visitors to Ise can become more familiar with Ise Distillery’s spirits and take home a bottle they have enjoyed as a memento of their trip to Ise.

Discover the craftsmanship of the Ise Distillery through displays of aromas and casks

Inside the shop, we showcase the craftsmanship of the Ise Distillery through exhibits such as life-size photographic panels of pot stills—which are essential to the production of distilled spirits—photographic panels depicting cask storage, and the maturation casks that shape the aroma of whisky.

A limited run of 10 bottles of ‘Ise Single Malt Whisky’—which sold out in one minute—will go on sale on the opening day

To mark the opening of the Ise Distillery’s direct sales shop, a limited run of 10 bottles of ‘Ise Single Malt Whisky – 2025 Edition’ will go on sale on 6 August. This product was made available for pre-sale via the online store over a three-day period last December, and sold out within one minute of going on sale on each day.

Eighty Years After the War: A Reflection on the Preciousness of Ordinary Life YUKIKAZE – In Theaters Nationwide from August 15, 2025

“To Return Alive, To Bring Others Home Alive”

Opening nationwide on August 15, 2025—marking eighty years since the end of World War II—YUKIKAZE is a feature film based on the true story of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) destroyer Yukikaze, a vessel that rescued countless lives amid the horrors of war. A press screening was held in advance at the Sony Pictures screening room.

The destroyer Yukikaze, which served throughout the Pacific War, was renowned for rescuing numerous sailors thrown into the sea during fierce naval battles, surviving to the end of the war virtually unscathed. It earned the legendary moniker “the lucky ship.” This film brings to life the ship’s heroic journey, alongside the lives of those who persevered through one of the most turbulent eras in modern history.

Leading the cast is Yutaka Takenouchi as Captain Kazutoshi Terasawa—a fictional amalgamation inspired by the real-life captains of Yukikaze. Hiroshi Tamaki portrays Petty Officer First Class Kohei Hayase. Supporting roles are delivered by an ensemble of acclaimed actors including Daiken Okudaira, Rena Tanaka, Kanji Ishimaru, and Toru Masuoka. Kiichi Nakai delivers a commanding performance as Vice Admiral Seiichi Itō, the Second Fleet Commander of the IJN who met his fate aboard the battleship Yamato.

In today’s world, once again shaken by division and violence, YUKIKAZE poses an urgent question to those of us living in the peace that others fought to protect: Are we once again treading the path of past mistakes? As collective memory of the war fades, this film becomes ever more vital—a call to reflect on the true value of peace.
