Closed to private and opened to the public LOG of Onomichi resumed some operations including accommodation from June 5

At LOG, a hotel complex located on the way to Senkoji Temple in Onomichi, the whole building was closed from April 6th (Mon) due to the spread of new coronavirus infection, but it was closed on June 5th. Starting Friday, we have resumed some operations.

During June, only 4 rooms (usually 6 rooms) are available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only, and there are more private spaces such as check-in in the library that can be used only by hotel guests and breakfast in the guest room. You can spend your time without worrying about. Dining and cafes that can be used by non-guests will be reopened with restricted usage and business hours.

In addition, in the LOG, there is an architectural style of piloti on the 1st and 2nd floors with the pillars left as an external space, which is an open and public space that serves as a passage for the sea breeze from Onomichi Suido. You can enjoy lunch and cafe menu with this Piloti as an open terrace.

[Check-in at the guest-only library]

In order to prevent customers from being infected with the new coronavirus, check-in will be done at the library on the 3rd floor, which is reserved for hotel guests. Studio Mumbai’s furniture is set up in a space inspired by the architect Bijoi Jane’s study. You can enjoy a welcome drink and sweets while opening the window and seeing the view of Onomichi below. Please note that guests arriving between 18:00 and 20:00 will be asked to check in at the reception on the 1st floor.

[Breakfast available in guest rooms]

In the normal plan, breakfast is served in the dining room on the first floor, and in June, it will be served in the guest room. On the edge of the window of the room, enjoy the breakfast using Seto’s ingredients while feeling the wind of Onomichi.

The following services are provided by reservation only to guests staying at LOG. You can use one group at a time, so please relax in a private space.
■Reserved library (18:30~22:00/7:30~11:00)
You can book up to 1 hour every 30 minutes. *First come, first served
Please refrain from eating and drinking when using. (You can eat and drink only when the floor is shared between 15:00 and 18:00.)
■Gallery tour (15:00-18:00/9:00-11:00)
The concierge will guide you through the gallery on the second floor.

The LOG located on the way to the Senkoji Temple in Onomichi is a 12-minute walk from JR Onomichi Station. Normally, the concierge will pick you up under the stone steps, but we ask that you come directly to us in June. If you need help with your luggage, please contact us in advance. [About measures to prevent virus infection]

Taking into consideration the health and safety of customers and staff, and public health, we take the following actions.
■Installation of alcohol for hand disinfection in various places in the building
■Wearing masks by staff in the hall and thorough management of health and hygiene
■ Implementation of sanitizing cleaning in guest rooms and public spaces
In order for customers to use our products with peace of mind, we use alcohol to disinfect the parts that come into contact with customers’ hands.
■About questionnaire
At the time of check-in, we ask all customers to answer the questionnaire and cooperate with the temperature measurement. Please note that in order to prevent the spread of infection and to ensure your own health and safe environment, we may refuse to stay if there is a suspicion of an infection.

Eighty Years After the War: A Reflection on the Preciousness of Ordinary Life YUKIKAZE – In Theaters Nationwide from August 15, 2025

“To Return Alive, To Bring Others Home Alive”

Opening nationwide on August 15, 2025—marking eighty years since the end of World War II—YUKIKAZE is a feature film based on the true story of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) destroyer Yukikaze, a vessel that rescued countless lives amid the horrors of war. A press screening was held in advance at the Sony Pictures screening room.

The destroyer Yukikaze, which served throughout the Pacific War, was renowned for rescuing numerous sailors thrown into the sea during fierce naval battles, surviving to the end of the war virtually unscathed. It earned the legendary moniker “the lucky ship.” This film brings to life the ship’s heroic journey, alongside the lives of those who persevered through one of the most turbulent eras in modern history.

Leading the cast is Yutaka Takenouchi as Captain Kazutoshi Terasawa—a fictional amalgamation inspired by the real-life captains of Yukikaze. Hiroshi Tamaki portrays Petty Officer First Class Kohei Hayase. Supporting roles are delivered by an ensemble of acclaimed actors including Daiken Okudaira, Rena Tanaka, Kanji Ishimaru, and Toru Masuoka. Kiichi Nakai delivers a commanding performance as Vice Admiral Seiichi Itō, the Second Fleet Commander of the IJN who met his fate aboard the battleship Yamato.

In today’s world, once again shaken by division and violence, YUKIKAZE poses an urgent question to those of us living in the peace that others fought to protect: Are we once again treading the path of past mistakes? Simose Art Museum: “Ambient, Environment, Circumstances – The Topography of Contemporary Art”Interview Part II: Ryosuke Yoshimura, Kisei Takahashi, Mario Cristiani, and Stefano Pesce

Opened in 2023 in Otake City, Hiroshima Prefecture, the Simose Art Museum sits on the shores of the Seto Inland Sea, facing the sacred island of Itsukushima. Designed by globally acclaimed architect Shigeru Ban, the museum rose to international prominence when it was awarded the Versailles Prize in December 2024 as the ‘World’s Most Beautiful Museum,’ drawing significant global attention.

To commemorate this achievement, the museum launched its first-ever contemporary art exhibition, Ambient, Environment, Circumstances – The Topography of Contemporary Art, which runs from April 26 to July 21, 2025. Within just ten days of opening, the exhibition surpassed 10,000 visitors—a record-breaking turnout for the museum.

Featuring works by emerging artists born between 1980 and 2000, primarily from across Asia, this special exhibition marks a bold new chapter for the museum as it ventures into contemporary territory.
