[Naeba Ski Resort] Autumn colors of the entire mountain are now at their peak!

2023.10.30

The peak of the season for viewing the autumn leaves has finally arrived in the area around the Naeba ski resort in Niigata Prefecture. While the autumn foliage has been delayed nationwide this year due in part to the extremely hot summer, the temperatures in the Naeba area have been in the single digits since early October, and the temperature difference between morning and evening has been more than 10℃ during the past few days. The peak of the season is now approaching without delay.

Japanese larch turning yellow

Around the foot of the mountain (at an elevation of around 900 meters), “larch” leaves turn yellow and their appearance changes to a golden color.

Larch is a deciduous coniferous tree belonging to the family Pinaceae, but it is a rare tree that turns yellow in late autumn. Depending on weather conditions, visitors can also enjoy the collaboration of the first snow and autumn leaves, which is unique to this time of year.
