The Kumano Kodo, a pilgrimage route leading to the Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine, is registered as a World Heritage site and consists of several paths in Wakayama, Nara, and Mie prefectures, including Nakahechi, which is said to have been walked by the greatest number of pilgrims since ancient times.
Syrup made from “yamamomo (mountain peach)” grown in the Kumano Kodo area is now on sale at online stores and tourist information centers.
