koe donuts offers a fresh take on doughnuts with its signature “Doughnut Melt” – a freshly made doughnut to be enjoyed with a knife and fork – alongside approximately 30 varieties of regular doughnuts made using six different dough recipes. All products emphasise the keywords “organic”, “naturally derived”, and “locally sourced”. Furthermore, as the shop is located in Kyoto, a renowned Japanese tourist destination, it also features seasonal limited-edition menus throughout the year.
The 2026 New Year doughnuts feature three varieties created in collaboration with Kyoto’s long-established Japanese confectionery shop, Izutsu Yatsuhashi Honpo. The “Mitarashi and Fresh Yatsuhashi” (¥460) combines a generous filling of mitarashi sweet bean paste within the doughnut, topped with caramelised fresh yatsuhashi.
The “Black Sesame Matcha and Fresh Yatsuhashi” (¥460) combines finely crushed yatsuhashi with a generous glaze of fragrant black sesame paste and matcha.
The “Strawberry and Soba Bouro” (¥460) features a buckwheat cracker shaped like a flower, piped with strawberry jam glaze and strawberry chocolate buttercream.
Crafted using quintessentially Kyoto ingredients, these treats boast a festive appearance perfect for celebrating the New Year.
