Shinwa Auction Co., Ltd. held the “Modern Art/Contemporary Art/Modern Art Part II/Manga Auction” on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the Marunouchi Building Hall. The total amount of the successful bids was 12,148,800,000 yen, and the bid ratio was 92.80%.
The highest bidder was Lot.351, a work by Takeo Yamaguch “Pressure”. It sold for 135 million yen, compared to the lower estimate of 70 million yen. The Otani Collection: Kiyokata Kaburaki, “Egret Girl at Dojoji Temple,” sold for 80 million yen, compared to a lower estimate of 20 million yen. In contemporary art, Yayoi Kusama’s “Pumpkin” sold for ¥10.7 million, compared to a lower estimate of ¥70 million.
The next auction will be held on Saturday, December 3, and will be titled “Modern Ceramics/Antiques/Modern Ceramics Part II Auction.
