Crowdfunding site Makuake has raised over 20 million yen in funding, and the kinetic art table Sisyphus is still under crowdfunding. From January 31st, the exhibition at Futako Tamagawa’s popular spot, Tsutaya Home Appliance + (Plus) has been decided.
Sisyphus is a kinetic art created by an American artist inspired by the Karesansui in Japan. Take a look at magic tables that no one has ever seen, or a mysterious table that you can always see.
A very simple and mysterious, magical table “Sisyphus” in which an iron ball rolls on the sand laid in a glass table and continues to draw mysterious beautiful patterns. There are more than 30 mysterious patterns drawn by iron balls.
Pattern data is made into a playlist, and when one “track (road)” is completed, the next pattern starts and is overwritten.
The creator of Sisyphus is the American artist Bruce Shapiro. He was originally a doctor, but about 25 years ago he quit his doctor and began to focus on “creating computer-controlled, moving art.”
The first Sisyphus was completed about 20 years ago. Inspired by Japan’s Karesansui, it is shaped into kinetic art. He made a large Sisyphus with a diameter of 3 meters and sent it to many museums, including Switzerland, Germany, the United States, Canada, Poland, and Australia, and was praised by many visitors.
