The Kai Tsugaru Onsen Ryokan will host the Tsugaru Shichisetsu Kamakura Apero at the Tsugaru Four Seasons Water Garden from 1 to 28 February 2025. During the winter season, the staff at Kai Tsugaru create original Nanasetsu Kamakura from scratch. On the outer walls of the kamakura, ‘kogin gento’, decorated with the seven snow patterns of the traditional Tsugaru craft of ‘kogin sashimi’, will light up Tsugaru’s winter with vibrant colours. Also new this year is the ‘Nanayuki Amuse’ with Oma tuna. Seven different types of Oma tuna amusements will be served along with local sake selected according to the type of snow falling that day.
Tsugaru is famous for its snow. In winter, the whole area is covered in a world of white and silver. Osamu Dazai, a great writer from the Tsugaru region, divided the snowfall in Tsugaru into seven different types in his travelogue Tsugaru. The depth of the delicate snowfall can only be felt in this region, which has a deep familiarity with snow. In winter, the Tsugaru Four Seasons Water Garden is a special place, surrounded by trees covered in snow cotton caps and pure white snow. In the middle of the water garden, which was originally a pond, the staff create a seven-snow kamakura from scratch.

Amuse is a French culinary term meaning a small dish served with an aperitif as a gesture of hospitality. New to this year’s activity are the ‘seven snow amuses’, made with Oma tuna and served in seven different snowflakes. All the amuses are made with Oma tuna and prepared in different ways.
