Four types of “Uji matcha x shaved ice”! A new menu item “Uji Matcha Parfait Ice” from Kyuemon Ito, Kyoto!

2020.07.04

Established in the latter half of Edo, Kyuemon Ito, Uji, Kyoto, started offering new menu “Uji Matcha Parfait Ice” from June 29 (Monday).

This year, four types of “Uji matcha x shaved ice” will be introduced. The new menu “Uji Matcha Parfait Ice” is a shaved ice image of a Matcha parfait based on seasoned ice that mixes green tea and milk. By adding ingredients such as white balls, red bean paste, ice cream and matcha jelly, you can feel the variety of taste and texture of the ingredients.

Also, “Uji Matcha Daifuku Ice”, which appeared last year, has been renewed. I used cream as a custard base and had Matcha Daifuku in the ice. In addition, the standard “Uji Kintoki” will change the type of ice depending on the store, the Uji main store will offer crispy and nostalgic ice, and the JR Uji Ekimae store & Gion Shijo store will offer fluffy ice. Enjoy four types of “Uji matcha x shaved ice” that you can only do at a teahouse.

■History of Kyuemon Ito
In the late Edo period, in the 3rd year of Tempo, the first generation of Ito Tsuneemon and Takikura started the tea industry at Tahara Village Namura (now Uji Tahara Minami).
After that, the second generation Ito Tsuneemon/Kusaburo, the third generation Ito Tsuneemon/Yumatsu, and the fourth generation Ito Takichi have been handed down from generation to generation. In 1952, the fifth generation, Hisazo Ito, moved from Ujitawara to the Uji area and set up a Uji tea sales shop at Renji Uji (now Omotesando, Byodoin Temple).

In the same year, upon the founding of the company, we honored the name of Jouemon Ito, who has been inherited for generations. .. In Ujitawara, where it was founded, we continue to make tea in the tea garden that has been inherited by the Ito family for generations.
