At Lake Biwa Hotel, we are promoting the provision of consecutive night plans that contribute to the development of the region and satisfy our customers by creating plans that make use of local nature and assets.

This time, we will trace the history of the Otsu / Sakamoto area and propose a plan that will heal your heart in the silence of Mt. Hiei.

Mt. Hiei, a sacred mountain that can be seen far from the Lake Biwa Hotel. Enryakuji is the head temple of the Tendai sect, which began when Saicho Daishi trained in Mt. Hiei and later built Nemoto Chudo.

It has produced so many high-ranking priests that it is called “the mother mountain of Japanese Buddhism” and has had many influences on the history and culture of Japan since the Heian period. It is registered as a World Heritage Site (cultural heritage) and is one of the greatest attractions of sightseeing in Shiga Prefecture.

Climb to the summit of Mt. An extraordinary moment of staring at the flames of Homa in silence and looking back on yourself creates unforgettable memories of your trip.

It is Enryakuji Temple. During the Heian period, there was a group of large temples called 3,000 in the three towers and sixteen valleys. The current Nemoto Chudo (national treasure) in the eastern pagoda is the main hall of all mountains, and was defeated during the Edo period.

Nemoto Nakado is undergoing major renovation from 2016 to Reiwa 8th year, but you can visit it. On the day of the experience, you can learn about the history of Enryakuji Temple with the guidance of the outline of the building by the Hieizan Sakamoto Tourism Volunteer Guide.
