Introducing Hina doll culture and production techniques transmitted from Edo to the present day at Yokohama Doll House

At the Yokohama Doll House from January 25, 2020, a special exhibition “Hina Doll Exhibition-Techniques of Tung Plastic Dolls from Edo to the present day” will be held. In addition to the Hina doll culture of the Edo era, we will introduce “Tou-so” technology, which was born in the Edo era and is often used in the production of Hina dolls, along with Hina dolls and Ichimatsu dolls.

In the exhibition, in addition to Hina dolls, a collection of the Yokohama Doll House, dolls such as Toshiko Ichihashi, a living national treasure who is a holder of paulownia plasticity, which became an important intangible cultural property in 1989, and one that is rare in modern times A doll of Amioka Eizumi who is a craftsman will be on display.
