Eco juice that returns 100% of the vessel and straw to the soil! Ise’s “Marugoto Juice Store” is finally biodegradable with straws

2020.07.23

At Marugoto Jujuten, a juice specialty store with a store in Harai-cho, Ise City, Mie Prefecture, we will change all straws we use from July 11 to biodegradable straws that return to the soil. Also, we started a business to sell “Biodegradable straws” under the “The EARTH CREW” brand, which we planned in-house for those who are highly environmentally conscious and want to reconsider the use of disposable straws. To go.

Juice specialty store switches to original developed biodegradable straw

The season when the temperature and humidity rise and you miss cold drinks. The popular Marugoto Fruit Juice Store, which is popular for its squeezing right in front of your order without adding anything to cold fruits such as chilled oranges and grapefruits, is the Oharaimachi Dori that leads to the Ise Jingu Naiku, This is a juice specialty store.

From July 11th, Marugoto Juice Store will change all straws used in its own fresh juice to corn-derived biodegradable straws.

100% of containers and straws are returned to the soil

Originally, the whole juice provided at the fruit juice store is a fruit itself, so by changing it to a biodegradable ecostro that also returns the straw to the soil, it becomes a naturally gentle juice that “returns both the vessel and the straw to 100% soil”.

Many customers who use whole fruit juice are in their teens and twenties, and many young generations are highly aware of the environment. We sell 2,500 cups a day on many days, so by switching to a biodegradable straw, it is kind to nature, and we hope that it will be an opportunity to raise the environmental awareness of our customers, and have a meeting with the manufacturer of a biodegradable straw. We have developed an original straw through repeated research on the mouth diameter that makes it possible to drink deliciously.

Started providing biodegradable straws to other stores

As a universal goal, it is shared that the outflow of marine plastic waste will be zero by 2050, and in Japan, as a part of the “action plan for measures against marine plastic waste,” it will be mandatory to charge a plastic shopping bag on July 1. The Ministerial Ordinance has been amended.

Amid the growing awareness of sustainable development such as SDGs, we started to provide biodegradable straws under the “EARTH CREW” brand to cafes, restaurants, tapioca drink specialty stores, etc.

As a crew member of the earth, each person will protect the earth as “The EARTH CREW” brand. In the future, in addition to biodegradable straws, we will provide eco bags and other products that realize a sustainable and better world. I plan on doing that.

"The EARTH CREW"
Two types of straws and cute packaging

What is a whole juice store?

With a store on Oharaimachi-dori, which leads to the Ise Jingu Naiku, it is a juice specialty store that squeezes oranges and grapefruits in front of you.

The ice-filled aquarium is always filled with cold fruit, making it particularly popular in the summer. Since the fruit itself is used as a container and juice is made from the inside using a special machine, it contains plenty of vitamin C and dietary fiber. You can just enjoy the whole juice. It also has an impact on appearance, and it is attracting attention, such as posting on SNS together with the Showa retro menu signboard of the store.

"The EARTH CREW" brand biodegradable straw

A biodegradable straw made from corn. It is more water resistant than paper straws and has a stable drinking mouth. Two sizes are available: diameter 9 mm x length 150 mm and diameter 6 mm x 210 mm. The color is green, which is the brand color. We plan to increase the number of color variations in the future. The box reflects the brand concept of “friendly to the earth” and draws illustrations of animals on the earth.
