The “Kai” brand of onsen ryokan offers kaiseki cuisine that incorporates seasonal and regional ingredients and cooking methods unique to the area. From March 1 to May 31, 2024, Kai Kinugawa, located in Kinugawa Onsen, Tochigi Prefecture, will introduce a new “Sakura Peony Hot Pot” featuring wild boar meat and cherry salmon.

About "Sakura Peony Hot Pot

Kai Kinugawa is a hot spring inn located on a small hill facing the Kinugawa River. The Kinugawa River, which has its source in the mountains of Nikko Shirane, Nantai, and Nasu, is known for its clear water and is said to be a treasure house of river fish.

In the mountainous areas, hunting is also popular, and a culinary culture that incorporates the blessings of the mountains and rivers has been nurtured.
The “Sakura Botan Nabe” is served in a two kinds of broth that combines wild boar meat, also called “peony,” and cherry salmon.
