A renovated alley as a single inn, opened in central Kyoto in April 2020

2020.01.26

A new town consisting of 23 inns and two restaurants will open in April 2020, renovating the streets lined with townhouses built during the Meiji era. This new city is a big project that utilizes traditional buildings. The original town houses were about to be demolished, but they were all renovated and reborn.

Tsubaki-Dori is a ryokan located in a corner near Shijo Omiya, which has been renovated into a single inn from an L-shaped alley, which is lined with over 110 years old town houses. The entrance building has a depth of Kyoto-like structure, and is not only a place to greet visitors, but also a path connecting the outside world to Tsubaki-dori.

When you enter Tsubaki-dori, there is a street reminiscent of the old flower district, which is isolated from the outside world. It becomes a street with a glossy appearance.

The theme of the rooms is the natural beauty of Kyoto

All 23 townhouses have guest rooms with open-air baths, and the interior is designed in five categories: “TAKE”, “MIZU”, “IWA”, “HANA”, and “HA”, with the theme of Kyoto’s natural beauty.

Unique dining experience

“Tsubaki-dori” has two restaurants.
Behind the secret door somewhere in the alley is a limited-seat 6 seats produced by Mr. Hiroshi Sasaki, the owner of Gion Sasaki, a three-star restaurant at the Michelin Guide Kyoto / Osaka 2020. Chef’s table “q”. You can enjoy the finest course cuisine just before the chef’s beautiful work.

At Wagyu Ryotei Bungo, you can enjoy a selection of the highest quality domestic Japanese beef in a variety of cooking styles.
