Autumn leaves event held at Yanagiyakannon, Kyoto

Yanagiyakannon in Nagaokakyo City, Kyoto Prefecture, which has been worshiped by the Emperor / Kuge and people suffering from eye diseases since the Heian period as a prayer place for healing eye diseases, from November 1st (Sun) to December 6th (Sun), 2020. “Yanagiya Kannon Autumn Leaves Week” will be held again this year as an autumn leaves event. In addition to the special exhibition of the Shoin, we will also award a limited red stamp. You can also see “Hanatesui”, which is a hot topic on SNS and magazines, and the temple treasure exhibition given by the imperial family, which has been passed down from generation to generation.
Enjoy the deep autumn and beautiful Japanese culture and art at the historic Yanagiyakannon.

■ Yanagiya Kannon Temple Treasure House Special Exhibition [Special Exhibition of Gifts from the Emperor]

To celebrate the throne of His Majesty the Emperor, some of the treasures given by the Emperor will be exhibited at the temple treasure house during Autumn Leaves Week.

In this mountain, which has been associated with the imperial family for a long time, in addition to the Kannon of Okunoin, which was made by Emperor Nakamikado in the 114th generation, and the Amidado kitchen donated by Yodo-dono, There are many gifts. Some of them will be open to the public. All of them are wonderful items, so please take a look.

Since last year, we have held a trial to maintain and repair the garden, and we will hold a very popular light-up this year as well.
This is a limited-edition lighting event by lighting designer Yuuki Ogawa. I think that a fantastic landscape that is different from the daytime will spread in front of you.

Eighty Years After the War: A Reflection on the Preciousness of Ordinary Life YUKIKAZE – In Theaters Nationwide from August 15, 2025

“To Return Alive, To Bring Others Home Alive”

Opening nationwide on August 15, 2025—marking eighty years since the end of World War II—YUKIKAZE is a feature film based on the true story of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) destroyer Yukikaze, a vessel that rescued countless lives amid the horrors of war. A press screening was held in advance at the Sony Pictures screening room.

The destroyer Yukikaze, which served throughout the Pacific War, was renowned for rescuing numerous sailors thrown into the sea during fierce naval battles, surviving to the end of the war virtually unscathed. It earned the legendary moniker “the lucky ship.” This film brings to life the ship’s heroic journey, alongside the lives of those who persevered through one of the most turbulent eras in modern history.

Leading the cast is Yutaka Takenouchi as Captain Kazutoshi Terasawa—a fictional amalgamation inspired by the real-life captains of Yukikaze. Hiroshi Tamaki portrays Petty Officer First Class Kohei Hayase. Supporting roles are delivered by an ensemble of acclaimed actors including Daiken Okudaira, Rena Tanaka, Kanji Ishimaru, and Toru Masuoka. Kiichi Nakai delivers a commanding performance as Vice Admiral Seiichi Itō, the Second Fleet Commander of the IJN who met his fate aboard the battleship Yamato.
