Niigata Integrated Resort Facility – New Greenpia Tsunan: “Lantern Launch Experience” held daily

The integrated resort facility “New Greenpia Tsunan” operated by Tsunan Kogen Development Co., Ltd. conducts “Lantern Launch Experience” every day from December 24, 2020 to March 31, 2021. (Excluding charter days and closed days)

We will continue to launch the small hot air balloon “Flying Lantern”, which is an annual winter event of this facility, in 2020. Started in 2012 to pray for the reconstruction of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Niigata-Nagano Prefectural Border Earthquake.

Couples and families gather on the slopes and shoot lanterns with their wishes into the night sky. The sight of flying lanterns coloring the world of silver with soft light has been well received by many people for its fantastic and beautiful appearance.

To commemorate the launch, the shop also sells lantern T-shirts, lantern towel handkerchiefs, washcloths, and lantern cookies.

* What is a flying lantern?
A type of hot air balloon at festivals in Thailand and Taiwan to pray for good health. Also known as a komroi / sky lantern, a lantern with a diameter of about 60 cm and a height of about 80 cm is lit and emerges like a hot air balloon.

Winter only! A balloon of light soaring in the night sky! With a fantastic lantern launch experience

It is a popular winter plan for this facility starting in 2012. If you write a wish on the lantern and launch it into the night sky, you can see a fantastic view of the light that shines in the night sky while illuminating the snow field. You can enjoy a special winter experience presented by New Greenpia Tsunan.

ZIPANGU Contemporary artists who have run through the Heisei era” Takashi Murakami x Sueo Mizuma dialogue: ‘Beyond the Theory of Artistic Entrepreneurship’ / Interview with Mr. Mizuma: ‘Rediscovering the Value of Japanese Culture by the Japanese People

The Hiroshima Museum of Art is hosting the exhibition “ZIPANGU: Contemporary Artists Who Defined the Heisei Era” (November 2, 2024 – December 22, 2024). This showcase brings together works by some of the most prominent figures in Japan’s contemporary art scene, including Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami, Makoto Aida, Yoshitomo Nara, Chiharu Shiota, Izumi Kato, Akira Yamaguchi, and Miwa Komatsu. The exhibition has already garnered significant attention, exceeding 10,000 visitors.

HYAKKEI covered the dialogue between contemporary artist Takashi Murakami and Sueo Mizuma, the curator of this exhibition, held at the RIHGA Royal Hotel Hiroshima. We also conducted an exclusive interview with Mr. Mizuma.

The discussions centered on the aspirations behind the ZIPANGU exhibition and offered forward-looking insights, not only into Japan’s art world but also into the rediscovery of value within Japanese culture by its people.

Two types of autumn-only red seals, ‘Chrysanthemum and Tanzaku’ and ‘Autumn Leaves and Candles’, are now available at Daisho-in Temple, Miyajima, a World Heritage island.

Two types of paper seals made exclusively for autumn, ‘Chrysanthemum and Tanzaku’ and ‘Autumn Leaves and Candles’, have been available since Monday 9 September at Daisho-in Temple on the World Heritage island of Miyajima. Quantities are limited and will run out as soon as they are gone.
