Experience Edo’s “Sakai” culture in Hoshinoya Tokyo

2021.05.25

For a limited time, we will open “Hoshinoya Tokyo Bar” where you can experience the izakaya culture that continues from Edo while feeling the pleasant night breeze at dusk outdoors with summer-like settings such as lanterns, wind chimes, and mosquito repellent incense.

A stall reminiscent of the summer of Edo

In the town of Edo, “Izak”, where you drink alcohol at a liquor store, was popular.
Hoshinoya Tokyo Bar will open for a limited time behind the 1st floor of Hoshinoya Tokyo. At dusk, when the sun begins to set, a corner of the building is transformed into a tavern decorated with goodwill and lanterns reminiscent of the lively atmosphere of the summer festival.

Unique local sake brewed in Tokyo

All the sake offered at Hoshinoya Tokyo Bar is local sake from Tokyo brewed at a sake brewery in Tokyo. Toshimaya Shuzou’s “Kinjo Junmai Ginjo Edo Sake Prince” and Tokyo Port Brewery’s “Junmai Ginjo Hara Sake Edo Kaijo All Tokyo” made using all the raw materials water, rice, and yeast from Tokyo, etc. We will prepare brands of sake related to Edo and Tokyo.

It has a light taste with a distinctive acidity reminiscent of white wine, and is recommended for those who are not familiar with sake. We also prepare amazake and ramune for those who cannot drink alcohol and for children.

Long-established snacks in Kanda, Nihonbashi, and Ningyocho

Along with sake, we offer long-established gems from Kanda, Nihonbashi, and Ningyocho, which have a long history from the Edo period to the present day and still retain the Edo atmosphere.
