A trip around Iriomote Island, Kohama Island, and Taketomi Island.

2021.12.07

At Hoshino Resorts, I would like people who have put up with their trip to Okinawa to fully enjoy the charm of Okinawa now. We planned this plan to visit Iriomote Island, Kohama Island, and Taketomi Island so that you can enjoy the characteristics of each different island. We propose an Okinawa revenge trip in the Yaeyama Islands that will make your stay deeper.

Characteristics of the three islands to go around

■ Iriomote Island
Approximately 90% of the island is covered with subtropical virgin forest, and is home to a wide variety of creatures, including the nationally designated special natural monument Iriomote cat. Enjoy adventurous activities in the magnificent nature.

■ Kohama Island
Located in the center of the Yaeyama Islands, an island called “Yaeyama’s navel”. You can enjoy a magnificent view of the sugar road and the sea, which consists of sugar cane fields. There are plenty of marine activities where you can enjoy coral reefs called fish fields.

■ Taketomi Island
It is designated as an important traditional buildings preservation area of the country, and the original scenery of Okinawa such as the Ryukyu red tile roof and the white sand road remains. Traditions are still carefully preserved, and you can experience the old-fashioned island culture.

Island time and activities unique to the island

■ Iriomote Island

Sundowner*
At Tsukigahama in front of the hotel, we will prepare special seats where you can enjoy the spectacular sunset and sunset slowly. We also have sparkling wine and snacks. You can relax and enjoy the sunset, which cannot be seen on a day trip, while being surrounded by the sea breeze and the sound of the waves.

*Enjoy the setting of the sun

Jungle trekking
In jungle trekking, we aim for “Geta Waterfall” where dynamic nature remains. It is a tour where you can fully enjoy the natural environment selected as a World Natural Heritage site through trekking, waterfall play, and creature observation. You can enjoy the charm of nature.

■ Kohama Island

Ryukyu Spa
Heals tiredness after physical activity due to daily stress and activities. It is a treatment using Okinawa’s natural materials such as hibiscus and shell ginger. In the spa room where the sea spreads out in front of you, you can feel the scent of nature and lead to deep relaxation.

Fish field snorkel
It is an activity that you can play directly from the guest room to the sea in a swimsuit. After enjoying a 360-degree panoramic view as if you monopolized the sea and sky on “Phantom Island”, you will experience marine activities at “Fish Field” which is a superb view spot. In the largest coral reef area in the Northern Hemisphere called “Sekisei Shoko”, you can meet a variety of tropical fish schools.

■ Taketomi Island

Starry sky floating bath
In the “Starry Sky Floating Bath” held at the pool of Hoshinoya Taketomijima, you can see the starry sky while completely weakening and floating on the surface of the water. The staff of Hoshinoya Taketomijima gently shakes the body from side to side, inviting you to a deeply relaxed state. Only the stars that fill the night sky are visible. At night time on Taketomi Island, where you can spend your time only by staying overnight, you can let yourself be in a relaxed rhythm, calm your body and mind, and feel as if you are surrounded by shining stars.

Playing the sanshin
It is an experience to learn the sanshin from the performer in a guest room that follows the traditional architecture of the island. After learning the basics of how to play and how to read the sanshin score “Kunkunshi”, you will practice the folk song “Asadoya Yunta” from Taketomi Island. Asadoya Yunta is an island set in Taketomi Island and is a familiar folk song. You can immerse yourself in the practice of the sanshin while feeling the comfort of the sound of the sanshin.

Meals that enjoy different locations depending on tropical ingredients and 3 islands

Using ingredients that are familiar to Okinawa, we offer meals that can be enjoyed at the unique location of each facility with different scenery even in the same Yaeyama Islands. For example, on Iriomote Island, a picnic lunch is served with the waterfall in front of you during trekking, and on Kohama Island, a take-out breakfast is served so that you can enjoy the view of the ocean.

Taketomi Island offers a “banyan breakfast” that you can enjoy on the banyan terrace near the pool located in the center of the facility. In addition to Mishaku, a fermented beverage from Okinawa, juice that combines dragon fruit, red potato, and yogurt, you can enjoy a sandwich sandwiched between black-purple rice rich in dietary fiber and sauerkraut.
