It’s not too late! Introducing Autumn Sightseeing Plans in Kyoto

The “Let’s go to Kyoto!” Autumn Campaign has been running since October 1, 2022 (Saturday). We would like to introduce a new project starting from November, when the autumn leaves will be changing colors.

Kyoto Rakuhoku Maple Viewing Special Nighttime Viewing at Ruriko-in Temple

A limited number of 200 people per day are now available for a special nighttime viewing of Ruriko-in Temple on a private charter basis. Rurikoin is a temple located in Yase, a place of rich nature at the foot of Mount Hiei. The temple is famous for its maple leaf reflections, and the illuminated garden at night creates an even more magical space.

Momiji Ninnaji National Treasure Kondo Music Dedication Attendance and Reihokan Special Night Opening

Surrounded by brilliantly illuminated autumn leaves, the Kyoto Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble will perform a musical dedication of cello and violin in Kondo, which is believed to be the oldest existing shikinden (Imperial Hall), relocated from the Imperial Palace in Kyoto. Come and face the Buddha and listen to the “sounds of prayer”. You can also enter the Reihokan at night, where numerous Buddhist statues and important cultural properties are enshrined.

Enjoy the magnificent nature of the famous autumn foliage

For a limited time only, a hiking event will be held along the Kiyotaki River, which runs from Arashiyama/Sagano to Takao and is rich in nature. Present the course map you receive at Saga-Arashiyama Station, the starting point, at any of the three temples (Nison-in, Atago Nembutsu-ji, or Jingo-ji) scattered along the course to receive an original red seal (Goshuin). (Admission and red seal fees are required separately. (Limited quantities available)
Participants will also receive an original Choju-gigaiga (caricatures of birds and animals) towel at the Jingo-ji Temple gate, the goal point of the 7.6km tour. (Limited quantity)

The interior design of Kai Unzen incorporates the Nagasaki culture, a mixture of Japanese, Chinese and Dutch elements that has developed as a result of the exchange of various people and cultures. Unzen Onsen, where Kai Unzen is located, has unique and historic public bathhouses and is a recommended area for visiting hot springs and experiencing traditional crafts.
