[Kai Kinugawa] ‘Hanami onsen stay’ to enjoy cherry blossom viewing in a hot spring or on a special terrace surrounded by about 30 Someiyoshino cherry trees.

2025.03.26

The onsen ryokan Kai Kinugawa, which offers seasonal views such as a large bath overlooking cherry blossoms and a courtyard that changes its expression with the seasons, will offer a ‘Hanami Onsen Stay’ from 28 March to 15 April 2025, where visitors can enjoy cherry blossom viewing in the onsen and on a special terrace surrounded by approximately 30 Someiyoshino cherry trees.

Enjoy cherry blossoms that change expression at different times of the day.

The large baths at Kai Kinugawa are surrounded by approximately 30 Someiyoshino cherry trees. You can enjoy cherry blossoms that change their expression at different times of the day, such as cherry blossoms shining in the soft morning sunlight, cherry blossoms dyed by the setting sun, and fantastically illuminated cherry blossoms at night.

In addition, only those who book this plan can enjoy the private use of the hot spring bath from 14:00 to 15:00.

Taste Japanese sweets and matcha green tea associated with hanami at the Cherry Blossom Terrace.

For a limited time only, the Cherry Blossom Terrace will be available in a private space away from the guest room buildings, where you can view the cherry blossoms up close. The Cherry Blossom Terrace can be rented out exclusively to guests who have booked a plan, and you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing in a space where you can feel the spring in a way that only Kai Kinugawa can offer.

While viewing the cherry blossoms, you can enjoy matcha green tea and sakura-mochi, or rice cakes with a cherry blossom motif, made by a long-established local Japanese confectionary shop.

Sakura Evening Banquet offerings to be enjoyed with cherry blossom peony hotpot dinner.

A bottle of spring-only Senkou Sakura (OHANAMI) is offered to accompany the Sakura Peony Hotpot Kaiseki, served in an original Kai Kinugawa hotpot with cherry blossoms painted on it.

Its refreshing spring-like flavour complements the ‘Sakura Botan-nabe’, which features wild boar meat and cherry salmon in two types of broth: a rich sansho broth with Japanese pepper and a refreshing broth made from grilled dried amago (mackerel). Sake can be taken back to the guest room and enjoyed as an evening drink.

Eighty Years After the War: A Reflection on the Preciousness of Ordinary Life YUKIKAZE – In Theaters Nationwide from August 15, 2025

“To Return Alive, To Bring Others Home Alive”

Opening nationwide on August 15, 2025—marking eighty years since the end of World War II—YUKIKAZE is a feature film based on the true story of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) destroyer Yukikaze, a vessel that rescued countless lives amid the horrors of war. A press screening was held in advance at the Sony Pictures screening room.

The destroyer Yukikaze, which served throughout the Pacific War, was renowned for rescuing numerous sailors thrown into the sea during fierce naval battles, surviving to the end of the war virtually unscathed. It earned the legendary moniker “the lucky ship.” This film brings to life the ship’s heroic journey, alongside the lives of those who persevered through one of the most turbulent eras in modern history.

Leading the cast is Yutaka Takenouchi as Captain Kazutoshi Terasawa—a fictional amalgamation inspired by the real-life captains of Yukikaze. Hiroshi Tamaki portrays Petty Officer First Class Kohei Hayase. Supporting roles are delivered by an ensemble of acclaimed actors including Daiken Okudaira, Rena Tanaka, Kanji Ishimaru, and Toru Masuoka. Kiichi Nakai delivers a commanding performance as Vice Admiral Seiichi Itō, the Second Fleet Commander of the IJN who met his fate aboard the battleship Yamato.

In today’s world, once again shaken by division and violence, YUKIKAZE poses an urgent question to those of us living in the peace that others fought to protect: Are we once again treading the path of past mistakes? As collective memory of the war fades, this film becomes ever more vital—a call to reflect on the true value of peace.
