BAPE STORE® COMME des GARCONS OSAKA OPEN

2020.04.19

On April 3, 2020, “A BATHING APE®” will open “BAPE STORE® Com des Garcons Osaka” along Midosuji in Osaka and Kosaibashi. This store is a shop-in-shop located in the Comme des Garcons Osaka store, which was relocated and reopened. The interior is designed by Rei Kawakubo, and the world view of “BAPE®”, which is different from the existing BAPE STORE®, is a must-see.

Brand “COMME des GARCONS” established in 1969 by Mr. Rei Kawakubo, a world-renowned fashion designer in Japan. “BAPE STORE® Comme des Garcons Osaka” was born with a new concept, with the brand welcoming “BAPE®” in the store for the first time. The 15th store in Japan will open on the 1st floor of the Comme des Garcons Osaka store, which has been renovated and relocated to Nissaibashi / Midosuji, where some of the world’s leading brand shops are lined up.

On April 3, 2020 (Friday), a new flagship shop of “Com des Garcons” opened in Osaka Saisaibashi.
After passing through the entrance of the store, which has two floors of a building located along Midosuji, you will immediately see the familiar BAPE® CAMO and APE HEAD decorated on the wall. Even within the Comme des Garcons store, which is based on white, it has a distinctive appearance, and I’m surprised by its presence.
The BAPE STORE® Comme des Garcons Osaka, which is constructed with wooden prisms while using the BAPE® icon dynamically, skillfully fuses the traditional BAPE® branding and the interior design by Rei Kawakubo. It creates a unique and sophisticated space.

Also, the display table located in the center of the store, which you may not notice at first glance, is actually a piece of the BAPE® CAMO pattern, and you can feel the attention to detail. Although it has a different taste than regular BAPE®, the compact store’s appearance is a concept store. You will be able to experience the new BAPE STORE® that has never been seen before.

If you’re not only a fan, but also “BAPE STORE® Com des Garcons Osaka”, please come and visit us.

December sees the arrival of a number of Christmas breads. The Snowman with his cute smiling face is a sweet loaf with two different flavours: pudding cream and chocolate cream. It is a heartwarming treat with flavours that both children and adults can enjoy.

Also back this year is the popular Japanese Stollen, which was a big hit last year. This is a special cake that can only be tasted at Kimuraya, using Japanese-inspired ingredients such as persimmons, figs and koshi-an (sweet bean paste). Please take this opportunity to try Kimuraya’s limited edition Christmas bread.

The exhibition has already garnered significant attention, exceeding 10,000 visitors.

HYAKKEI covered the dialogue between contemporary artist Takashi Murakami and Sueo Mizuma, the curator of this exhibition, held at the RIHGA Royal Hotel Hiroshima. We also conducted an exclusive interview with Mr. Mizuma.

The discussions centered on the aspirations behind the ZIPANGU exhibition and offered forward-looking insights, not only into Japan’s art world but also into the rediscovery of value within Japanese culture by its people.
