Futaba Co., Ltd., which manufactures and sells soup packs, develops a “life style centered on UMAMI”, “ON THE UMAMI” uses non-standard vegetables in collaboration with local farmers to help reduce food loss. However, the pack “UMAMI Dashi Tomato” started to be sold on July 10th at online shops and directly managed stores.
Contribute to food loss reduction by utilizing nonstandard products. Using fruit tomatoes from Niigata Prefecture
We use fruit tomatoes from Takagi Farm, Niigata Prefecture, which is said to have a “feeling like fruits”. The flesh that is smaller and firmer than general tomatoes has a refreshing scent, sweetness and umami unique to tomatoes. The orange-colored color has a high sugar content and is a proof of a strong tomato.
Uses fruit tomatoes with plenty of sweetness
This time, Takagi Farm purchases a non-standard fruit tomato called “Honeymono”.
“Honeymono” is a nonstandard product that does not have a quality problem, but may be discarded without being placed on the market due to deformation or size, or may be sold at a low price because it does not increase in product value. ON THE UMAMI has long been cooperating with farmers in Niigata Prefecture to tackle the food loss problem. We will continue to promote product development in cooperation with local producers in order to stop the waste of honey vegetables, which account for about 15% of the annual yield.
"Dashi" is not limited to bonito and kelp! What is the attention of the all-purpose tomato soup?
Freshly picked fruit tomatoes were dried immediately to further enhance the flavor. In order to enhance the scent there, we mixed the herbs and rich Italian tomato powder into a dashi pack.
Generally speaking of soup stock, bonito and kelp tend to be imagined, but tomato soup has a richness that is comparable to bonito and abundant “umami ingredients” called “glutamic acid”. Therefore, the mellowness and umami that are comparable to kelp are condensed.
In addition, tomato contains plenty of lycopene and dietary fiber, and it is effective for adjusting the intestinal environment and dieting and anti-aging. The little-known tomato is a versatile one that is full of umami, richness and nutrition.
You can use it for vegetable soup by removing the dashi stock, or you can use it for various purposes such as breaking the pack and using it as a condiment for the hidden taste of omelettes and the aroma of pasta. Because it is a one-time-use dashi pack, you can easily prepare delicious dishes without the need to chop tomatoes and simmer. In addition, since no preservatives or chemical seasonings are added, it can be safely consumed by small children.
