Shurijo Castle Reconstruction Support – Minimal wallet sales using Ryukyu indigo dyeing

2021.06.17

October 31, 2019. Shuri Castle in Naha City, Okinawa, was completely destroyed by fire.
The fire at Shurijo Castle, which is also a symbol of Okinawa and a source of heart, gave the citizens a great sense of loss.
This time, as part of the Shurijo Castle reconstruction support project, the [fu ・ ku ・ sa] Ryukyu version is now on sale from M Style.

What is [fu ・ ku ・ sa / Ryukyu Aizen]?

[Fu ・ ku ・ sa] is a simple wallet that is as simple and functional as the ancient Japanese “Fukusa”, and gently “wraps” bills and cards using high-quality materials and skillful techniques.

The dark blue dyed with indigo is called “Japan Blue”. Among them, indigo dyeing in Okinawa is called “Ryukyu indigo” and is dyed from raw materials cultivated only in Okinawa in Japan.

It is very difficult to cultivate Ryukyu indigo plant to produce mud indigo, which is the source of dyes, and to control the quality of the mud indigo plant at a constant level. In addition, the production of the Ryukyu indigo leaf itself, which is the raw material, is limited, so Ryukyu indigo is a very rare material.
