A new product, ‘Honkan Crepe Naka’, was launched on 28 March 2025 (Friday) by Otabe Honkan, which operates in Minami Ward, Kyoto. Honkan Crepe Naka’ is a new sweet with a new texture that combines Japanese and Western flavours, created by a pastry chef. As it can be eaten with one hand, it can be enjoyed as a snack in the car, in addition to a relaxing tea time.
A new texture of thick straw rice cakes combined with custard cream, and tsubuan (sweet bean paste) cooked in-house, are wrapped in a crepe of firm dough and sandwiched between monaka (buns).
