The Western-style building “Chorakukan” in the Meiji era, which was built as the villa of the businessman Murai Kichibei, who was called the Tobacco King in 1909, operates as a cafe / restaurant, bar, and sweets boutique, keeping the same Western-style building as before. There is also a hotel in the adjacent new building.
From Saturday, September 25, 2021, the collaboration product “Chourakukan Modern Tile Tart” with the Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art “Kyoto of Modern Architecture” will be on sale.
“Chourakukan Modern Tile Tart” was created with the concept of “tasting Chourakukan” by reflecting the tile pattern of the old greenhouse of Chourakukan (currently Chourakukan BOUTIQUE), which has remained since the beginning of construction in 1909.
The tart is filled with homemade cream that uses plenty of fragrant palma guilgenti almonds with a unique sweetness that Chourakukan pastry chef has been using for many years, and it is a crispy cookie dough using domestic wheat. The compatibility is also excellent. It is fragrant and moist inside. It is a tart that stands out for its simple taste.
For the set drink, you can choose Chourakukan original coffee or tea.
“Chourakukan Original Blend Coffee” is made by extracting specially roasted home-ground beans with nel drip. The deep roasted fragrant aroma and mellow taste are popular without any unpleasant taste.
“Changrakukan Original Blend Tea” is based on Sri Lankan black tea with the addition of honey bush, an herb native to South Africa, and you can enjoy the natural sweetness and aroma without habit.
In addition, we will offer a discount on “Chourakukan Modern Tile Tart” by presenting the admission ticket for the “Kyoto of Modern Architecture” exhibition at the Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art.
