Since its founding in 2002, the KOKUYO Design Award has been seeking works that create new value for KOKUYO and society as a whole. Especially in recent years, we have emphasized that we can carefully propose stories and scenes, but this time we set the theme of “♡” with the primary focus on encouraging applicants to release creativity and inspiration. . By not setting how to read “♡”, leaving the applicant to read and interpret the symbol “♡” will have surprising, intuitive and attractive charm and power. I hope that the works that have been gathered.
The winners of this year’s Grand Prix and each award are as follows.
Work name: | someday somewhere |
---|---|
Common name: | pencil |
Summary: | This is a pencil with a previous life. Made from scrap wood that should have disappeared from this world. The address and member name written on the side are the location of the former building or furniture where this tree was used. Uneven texture and hardness, subtle fragrance, scratches, traces of sunburn, paint color, wood grain … As soon as you pick it up, you’ll be able to come across rich expressions that are different from one another. The memories that only this tree knows are transplanted into pencils and continue to remain. Please try to draw someday not here or somewhere not here. |
group name (Winner): |
Obake (Natsuki Tomoda, Mai Miura) |
Work name: | Music box tape cutter |
---|---|
Common name: | Tape cutter |
Summary: | A music box element was added to the masking tape cutter, and a beautiful tone was played in conjunction with the operation of pulling out the tape. The sound that is heard when pulling out the tape can also be used to measure the length of the tape intuitively, so you can cut it with just the right length while using it, Enjoy the sound longer than usual. It is a proposal that you can enjoy using the tape intuitively with your eyes and ears. |
Winner: | Shota Toriyama, Hayao Yanagisawa |
Work name: | Oyakogoro |
---|---|
Common name: | Emergency SOS transmitter with location information (one-time PLB) |
Summary: | It is a brooch type IoT device that sends the current location and SOS message at regular intervals from the moment you press the main unit until the battery runs out. “Oyagokoro” wants to know where the child is, and “Kodomogokoro” always resists knowing where the child is. But when something really happens, I want to secretly seek help. I want you to ask. I wanted to respond to such “Oyakogoro”. |
Winner: | Youhei Yamakawa |
Work name: | FROM TREE TO FOREST |
---|---|
Common name: | pencil |
Summary: | It is a fun and functional stationery with a design that considers the relationship between trees and humans, and the forest and society. The pencil part represents the trunk of the tree and the sticky part represents the branch of the tree. When the pencils are erected, the sticky notes support each other and look like a forest. The act of sharpening pencils using sticky notes is likened to cutting down trees and deforestation. If we don’t deal with deforestation around the world in recent years, we may lead ourselves to ruin. This work encourages people to feel this situation and respect and value nature. |
