Musuhi, the god who creates heaven and earth and all things. Fujii François’s paintings, which draw on Edo paintings by Ito Jakuchu, Shijo Enzan School, and others, and which use as motifs the eight million gods, ghosts, and myths of the Nihon Shoki Chronicles, are exquisite, yet contain humor that makes the viewer chuckle. This exhibition introduces Japanese paintings by Fujii François that evoke the connection between nature and humans, flora and fauna, and between ancient gods and humans.
