A 120-year-old Kamaboko store sells cute “Valentine Satsuma-age” like sweets

2021.01.31

Uoman Shoten Co., Ltd. started selling the 2021 version of “Valentine Satsumaage”, which was very popular last year, on January 10, 2021 (Sunday) exclusively for online shopping.

A “not sweet” Valentine’s gift with a unique look and unprecedented taste
“Valentine’s Day Satsuma-age” is a gift set limited to Valentine’s Day, in which bite-sized Satsuma-age using various ingredients is packed like a chocolate assortment.

“Valentine’s Satsuma-age,” which was first sold in 2020, became a hit product that was sought after by a large number of people as it was released and received a lot of attention on the Internet.
This year, two types of product variations, “Japanese style” and “Western style,” will be introduced so that people of all ages can enjoy themselves. Assorted unique fried fish cakes devised by skilled craftsmen of a long-established kamaboko shop, one of the attractions is the fun of choosing your favorite taste.

The contents of fried bite-sized satsuma-age have also been significantly renewed. There is no doubt that you will experience more surprises and deliciousness than the previous work, such as “Amber”, which has a gentle texture and sweetness of chestnuts, and “Ahijo Ball”, which has an irresistible aroma of olive oil and garlic.

In consideration of the environment where it cannot be handed over due to the corona virus, we use a fashionable package that contains real chocolate so that it can be treated as a gift.
You can also enjoy it as a small gift for remote Valentine’s Day, which is a little different from the usual Valentine’s Day, such as family, friends, people at work, people who are not good at sweets.

Western-style set "Tesoro"

A variety of petit satsuma-age born from skilled craftsmanship and playfulness
In the past, Satsuma-age products for Valentine’s Day were sometimes seen, but they were just heart-shaped or branded with a heart. With this alone, you cannot enjoy the “excitement and excitement” that is indispensable for gifts.

At Uoman, we have broken down the preconceived notion of fried fish cakes, and have developed products by combining them with ingredients that no one has ever done, and by focusing on the “cuteness of appearance” that makes you feel excited when you pick them up. It was.

From dozens of recipe candidates, many Satsuma-age created by the ingenuity and trial and error of the Satsuma-age craftsmen are packed with the craftsmanship unique to a long-established store and the playfulness of enjoying Valentine’s Day.

“Is this Satsuma-age?” “It fits so well!” I hope you will be surprised at the new taste that you have never eaten before. Please enjoy the gift set that overturns the conventional wisdom of kneaded products.

◇ Valentine Japanese style Satsuma-age “Satsuma-age”
(1) Wakakusa corn
The very sweet Hokkaido honey bandam and surimi were combined and fried in a samosa sheet.
(2) Pink heart
It is a fried kamaboko in the shape of a heart like Valentine’s Day.
(3) Persimmon ball
Speaking of Nara, persimmons are also famous. The composition has been adjusted so that the elegant sweetness and flavor of the persimmon will come out firmly. The aroma of yuzu enhances the taste of surimi.
(4) Yuba roll
It is one of the popular products of Uoman, which is made by mixing green peas with fish meat, rolling it in raw yuba and fried.
(5) Amber
Chestnut and pumpkin paste were combined with surimi. The texture and sweetness of chestnuts are impressive. Pumpkin paste goes well with surimi and has a beautiful color.
(6) Colorful shrimp dumplings
The deliciousness of the plump shrimp spreads in your mouth. The colors are vivid with carrots and green onions.
(7) Guyu
The Japanese-style “royal road”, kinako and black sesame are combined with surimi. Please enjoy the flavor and texture of Japanese sweets.
(8) Jewel
The surimi seasoned with purple potato powder is treated with the silk sweet of the season. The harmony between the taste and sweetness of fish meat is exquisite.

Japanese style set contents

◇ Valentine Western-style Satsuma-age “Tesoro”
(1) Corn paste
I put plenty of Hokkaido honey bandam in surimi. The sweetness of corn and the umami of fish are excellent.
(2) Pink heart
A cute heart-shaped fried kamaboko. I made it with my thoughts on Valentine’s Day.
(3) Chocolate nuts
Heart-shaped chocolate is topped on a paste that is a mixture of nuts with a good texture and flavor. The flavor of cacao creates a mysterious taste.
(4) Colorful shrimp
The deliciousness of the plump shrimp spreads in your mouth. The colors are vivid with carrots and green onions.
The colorful ingredients were chopped and mixed with the minced shrimp. It is a popular product that is very satisfying not only in appearance but also in taste and texture.
(5) Sweet cinnamon
Pumpkin paste and surimi were combined and served with seasonal silk sweets and cinnamon powder. Satsuma-age? Western confectionery? This is delicious!
(6) Ahijo ball
Reproduce the popular Italian with paste. I combined olive oil with garlic chips, peppers, and chopped shiitake mushrooms to give it an ajillo feel.
(7) Peanut butter
The rich peanut butter aroma matches the taste of fish astonishingly. The texture of nuts is also fun and has a new taste.
(8) Basil cheese
Satsuma-age with a Western-style taste that combines basil-flavored surimi and cheese that goes well with it.

We have about 40 kinds of Satsuma-age, from standard to seasonal products, and we offer all kneaded products handmade by craftsmen and without additives.
Satsuma-age, which uses attractive local ingredients from Nara and Kansai, is favored not only by local Nara but also by people outside the prefecture.
In recent years, we have also been focusing on product planning and development that overturns the conventional wisdom of Satsuma-age.
In order to satisfy as many customers as possible, we will always work with a spirit of challenge and a spirit of inquiry without sitting on the name of a long-established store.
