BEB5 Karuizawa Proposal of summer trip 2020 to enjoy the summer resort “Karuizawa” fashionably

2020.07.21

“Hoshino Resorts BEB5 Karuizawa” with the concept of “a hotel to spend time with friends” proposes a summer trip that you can forget about the heat and enjoy yourself. Karuizawa is one of Japan’s leading summer resorts. It’s only 1 hour by bullet train from Tokyo, and it’s easily accessible from the metropolitan area. You can relax in the stylishly designed public space, bring local gourmet food to your room for a petit party, feel abundant nature and feel refreshed, leave your daily life and enjoy a refreshing summer.

Enjoy the fashionable and open space freely!

With a bed space on a spacious sofa, the “Yagra Room” is a place where you can enjoy chatting on the sofa, read a book quietly in a bed space like a secret base, and feel at ease. The stylishly designed public space “TAMARIBA” consists of a courtyard, lounge, cafe and library, and is open 24 hours a day. The fresh air blows through the large windows, creating an open space.

You can just enjoy thinking about where and how to spend your time, such as stretching out your feet and relaxing in the yagura sofa or the courtyard of the wooden deck. The 24-hour cafe sells wine by weight. It is useful for drinking alone or with friends. You can bring in food and drink, so you can buy your own favorite and enjoy a mini party.

Rental items available to fully enjoy the summer resort

Five items are available to help you stay in the summer, such as a straw hat, a bug cage, a portable speaker, a neck fan that increases the wind in the plateau, and a shoulder cardigan that adds elegance to your outfit. It will be free from 13 July to 31 August 2020. You can rent as many times as you like during your stay, so try out what you care about and enjoy the refreshing summer in Karuizawa.

Feel the rich nature and change your mood

You can join a nature tour of a group of wild flora and fauna specialists “Picchio” to meet a flying squirrel, relax in a hot spring flowing directly from the source, or enjoy a picnic on a bench near the clear stream. Karuizawa is located at an altitude of about 940 meters, so the refreshing air is comfortable even in the summer, and even if you walk around, you won’t be exhausted due to the heat, which is a charm of a summer resort.

Eighty Years After the War: A Reflection on the Preciousness of Ordinary Life YUKIKAZE – In Theaters Nationwide from August 15, 2025

“To Return Alive, To Bring Others Home Alive”

Opening nationwide on August 15, 2025—marking eighty years since the end of World War II—YUKIKAZE is a feature film based on the true story of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) destroyer Yukikaze, a vessel that rescued countless lives amid the horrors of war. A press screening was held in advance at the Sony Pictures screening room.

The destroyer Yukikaze, which served throughout the Pacific War, was renowned for rescuing numerous sailors thrown into the sea during fierce naval battles, surviving to the end of the war virtually unscathed. It earned the legendary moniker “the lucky ship.” This film brings to life the ship’s heroic journey, alongside the lives of those who persevered through one of the most turbulent eras in modern history.

Leading the cast is Yutaka Takenouchi as Captain Kazutoshi Terasawa—a fictional amalgamation inspired by the real-life captains of Yukikaze. Hiroshi Tamaki portrays Petty Officer First Class Kohei Hayase. Supporting roles are delivered by an ensemble of acclaimed actors including Daiken Okudaira, Rena Tanaka, Kanji Ishimaru, and Toru Masuoka. Kiichi Nakai delivers a commanding performance as Vice Admiral Seiichi Itō, the Second Fleet Commander of the IJN who met his fate aboard the battleship Yamato.

In today’s world, once again shaken by division and violence, YUKIKAZE poses an urgent question to those of us living in the peace that others fought to protect: Are we once again treading the path of past mistakes? As collective memory of the war fades, this film becomes ever more vital—a call to reflect on the true value of peace.
