With the influence of the new corona, the chances of seeing this traditional fireworks are decreasing, and with the cooperation of the fireworks master members who belong to the local hand-held fireworks preservation society, we plan to make it possible to watch fireworks in KAI Enshu. Did.
While the sparks are fluttering, you can spend a spectacular time with a magnificent flame rising, and you can spend a time getting intoxicated by the goodness of this place by touching the culture and climate that have been nurtured locally.
“Tedutsu hanabi”, which has been handed down in the Enshu area of Shizuoka prefecture since the Edo period, is a blow-up type hand-held firework that fills a bamboo tube with gunpowder, and sometimes raises a pillar of fire of more than 10 meters. Fireworks are tested for their courage to firmly support the bamboo tube in front of the rising flames and sparks.
It was familiar at local festivals and events, but due to the influence of the new corona, it was canceled one after another, and there are not many places to see it.
Meanwhile, from the desire to incorporate the traditional culture that has been handed down in this area into hospitality and deepen the memories of the trip, we devised a plan to show off fireworks at the hot spring inn “Kai Enshu” that took measures against corona such as avoiding three cs. I was there.
"Enshu Tedutsu Hanabi"
Enshu Tedutsu Hanabi is made by putting gunpowder in a bamboo tube and wrapping it with a rough rope. Explosives contain a lot of iron, and as time passes after preparation, rust due to humidity etc. will occur and it will become unusable, so preparation on the day is essential, so manual work from the morning on the day of launch It is a highly rare firework that needs to be done in.
During the period, we plan to introduce a special gallery where you can deepen your understanding of the mechanism, culture, and history of such hand-held fireworks.
■ Efforts with the cooperating organization "Kanzanji Hand-held Fireworks Preservation Society"
Many of the fireworks artists who belong to the Preservation Society are made up of volunteer members who aim to inherit the traditional culture of the region between their main businesses. KAI Enshu will also be a member of this preservation society, and will work on a long-term attempt to deepen the understanding of the culture, climate, history, etc. related to Tedutsu Hanabi and convey it to staying guests.
■ Comment on "Enshu Kanzanji Tedutsu Hanabi Preservation Society"
“In 2020, not only the hand-held fireworks due to the corona disaster, but also the annual fireworks festivals in the prefecture were canceled one after another. I will do my best with all the fireworks masters so that they can enjoy it and make it a memory of the trip. “

The hospitality of tea unique to Shizuoka, such as the Micharaku held every evening, is also attractive.
