Okuirase Keiryu Hotel Pave the way to worship by shoveling snow! “Winter Lake Towada Good Luck Tour”

2021.01.10

“Hoshino Resorts Oirase Keiryu Hotel” will hold a “Winter Towada Lake Good Luck Tour” on Saturdays and Sundays from February 1st to March 22nd, 2021. Located in the northernmost part of Honshu, Aomori Prefecture is home to many spiritual and fantastic power spots woven by harsh nature and terrain, making it a perfect place to travel to the beginning of the year. In this tour, we will visit Towada Shrine, which is called the two major sacred sites in the northeastern part of the country, along with Osorezan on the Shimokita Peninsula.
Until now, it was difficult to worship in the snow in winter, but as an experience unique to a snowy country, you can wear snowshoes and shovel your own way to worship.

“Lake Towada”, the stage of this tour, prospered as a training ground (* 1) during the Heian period, and was a place where many trainees fight against themselves who are at a loss. After that, it received a lot of faith from people as “Sacred Mountain (* 2) Towada” and was praised as a mysterious place with spiritual power. Even now, more than 1500 years later, many people visit Lake Towada from spring to autumn.

However, it is difficult to visit in winter due to heavy snowfall. Therefore, since last year, we have devised this tour with the cooperation of “Towada Shrine”, which stands quietly on the shore of the lake and has a history of more than 1200 years, so that you can have an experience that can only be done here.

* 1: Ascetic practices in mountains, sacred mountains, and sacred sites, and spiritual tests (a mysterious and immeasurable power of the gods and Buddha.
A place to acquire legal power with (profit that appears).
* 2: Sacred mountain. Also, the mountain, which is the sacred area of shrines and temples.

State of worship
Wooden stamp book (optional)
Blue dragon votive tablet (optional)
Old cedar avenue approach (* 3)

The stage of this tour is Towada Shrine, which is called the two major sacred sites in the northeastern part of the country, along with Osorezan on the Shimokita Peninsula. It is a place where tourists are constantly coming from spring to autumn, but in winter it is difficult to worship due to the snow. Therefore, in this tour, as an experience unique to a snowy country, you can walk on a snow-covered road with snowshoes or open up a new road while shoveling snow. After having fun shoveling snow with your whole body, once you prepare your mind and dress, wash your hands and mouth at the Ryu no Temizuya, which is a symbol of Towada Shrine.

After a sweat, worshiping will surely convey your thoughts and your heart more purely than usual. In addition, as an option, you can bring back a rare wooden stamp book and a powerful blue dragon stamp (for a fee), so you can start the year with a new feeling.
* 3: The approach road constructed during the Edo period.

A red stamp on the tour limited "apple paper"

If you wish, you can have a red stamp written on “Apple Ring Paper (* 4)” as a memory of Aomori Prefecture. Apple ring paper was born in Aomori Prefecture in 2010 to reuse the seeds and skins that remain when apples are processed into juice or jam. Residues including apple seeds, skins, and stems are reused, and you can enjoy the appearance. Why don’t you take it home as a memorial to your trip to Aomori and start the year with a different red stamp?
